Round 120 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As we burst out into the sunlight, the beam of light illuminates a small, ruined courtyard beyond the crumbling tower entrance. The air is thick with dust and debris, and the scent of decay hangs heavy over the scene. Merrin stands frozen, the book still clutched in her hand, as if unsure what to do next. I glance around, my eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of danger. The courtyard is empty, except for a few scattered objects that were once part of a garden or fountain. A small, ornate statue lies shattered on the ground, its pieces reflecting the sunlight in a kaleidoscope of colors. Suddenly, the ground beneath us begins to shudder and tremble, as if the very foundations of the courtyard are being shaken. Merrin's grip on the book tightens, her eyes locked on mine with a mixture of fear and determination. "What do we do now?" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.
I take a deep breath, trying to calm the frantic pounding of my heart as I clutch the book tightly to my chest. The ground beneath our feet continues to shudder and tremble, and I can feel the fear rising inside me like a tidal wave. "We need to get out of here," I say, my voice shaking with urgency. "But where do we go? Everything's collapsing around us."
I look around the ruined courtyard, my eyes scanning for any sign of danger or escape. The book in Merrin's hands seems to pulse with an otherworldly energy, its pages fluttering and shifting as if they're alive. I can feel the fear rising inside me, but I also feel a sense of determination. "We need to find a way out of here," I say, my voice firm and commanding. "But we can't just run blindly into the unknown. We need to be smart about this."
I take a step towards Merrin, my hand reaching out to grab her arm. "Give me the book," I say, my voice urgent and filled with concern. "We can't risk our lives for it. Whatever power it possesses, whatever dark magic it contains, we need to figure out what to do from somewhere safe."
I can see the hesitation in Merrin's eyes, but I also see the fear and uncertainty on her face. I know she wants to understand what that book is, but we can't let our curiosity get the better of us, not in a place like this.
I take another step towards Merrin, my hand outstretched. "Please," I say, my voice softening. "Let me take the book. We'll find a way to understand it, I promise. But we need to survive first."
The ground beneath our feet continues to shudder and tremble, and I can hear the ominous groaning of the tower as it collapses in on itself. I know we don't have much time, but I also know that we can't risk our lives for a book, no matter how powerful it may be.
I take another deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. "Merrin," I say, my voice firm and commanding. "We need to work together if we're going to get out of here alive. And that means trusting each other with our lives. So please, give me the book. Let's figure this out together."
