As The Voice raises her hand, the dark energy swirls around her, distorting reality itself. The air seems to ripple and writhe, like a living thing. The trees around us seem to lean in, their branches tangling together in a way that creates a sense of claustrophobia. Suddenly, Varrika stumbles forward, her eyes fixed on the swirling energy. "Merrin, no!" she cries out, but it's too late. The energy envelops her, and she disappears into nothingness. The Voice's gaze shifts to Merrin and me. "You two are quite brave," she says, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "But bravery won't be enough to save you. You must first prove your worthiness."

A low hum fills the air, and the ground begins to shift beneath our feet. A hidden pit opens up, revealing a dark, gaping maw. The Voice gestures towards it. "Solve my riddle, mortals. If you succeed, you may pass through. But if you fail... you will join Varrika in her eternal slumber."

The hum grows louder, and the air seems to vibrate with energy. A small, intricately carved stone appears in front of us. The Voice speaks again, "What can be broken, but never held? What can be given, but never sold?"

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

The ground trembles beneath my feet as the pit opens up before us, revealing a dark, gaping maw. I feel a chill run down my spine as The Voice speaks, her words echoing in my mind like a sinister whisper. "Solve my riddle, mortals. If you succeed, you may pass through. But if you fail... you will join Varrika in her eternal slumber."

I glance over at the small, intricately carved stone that has appeared in front of us. My mind races as I try to puzzle out the answer to The Voice's riddle. What can be broken, but never held? What can be given, but never sold? The hum grows louder, and the air seems to vibrate with energy. I can feel the weight of the crystal's influence bearing down on me like a physical pressure. But even as fear gnaws at my insides, I know that we have no choice but to keep moving forward. I take a step closer to the pit, my hand still gripping the hilt of my dagger. "Time is running out," I say, my voice steady and clear. "We need to figure this out, and fast."

My eyes dart around the twisted landscape, searching for any clues or hidden meanings that might help us solve the riddle. The trees seem to lean in, their branches tangling together in a way that creates a sense of claustrophobia. But even as I feel the walls closing in around us, I know that we can't give up. We've come too far to turn back now, I think to myself. And the promise of the Time-Splitting Sword is too great to ignore. So I take another step forward, my eyes fixed on the pit before us as the energy around it begins to distort reality itself. Whatever happens next, I think to myself, we'll face it together. And with Merrin and Varrika by my side, I have a feeling that we can overcome any obstacle that stands in our way - no matter how dark or twisted it may be.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

As the pit yawns open before us, revealing its dark maw, I feel a chill run down my spine. The ground trembles beneath my feet, and the air seems to vibrate with an ominous energy. Varrika's disappearance at the hands of The Voice's dark magic sends a shiver of fear through me, but I know that we can't let that stop us.

I turn to Merrin, my eyes narrowed with concern. "We need to figure this out," I say, my voice steady and clear. "Whatever this riddle is, it's our only chance at saving Varrika and getting out of here alive."

I take a step closer to the pit, my hand still gripping the hilt of my mace. The stone before us seems to pulse with an otherworldly energy, its intricate carvings twisting and writhing as if they have a life of their own. I study it intently, trying to puzzle out the meaning behind The Voice's words.

What can be broken, but never held? What can be given, but never sold? I rack my brain for any clue or hidden meaning that might help us solve this riddle. But as the hum grows louder and the air seems to vibrate with an almost palpable sense of danger, I know that we're running out of time.

I glance over at Merrin, my eyes meeting hers in a moment of shared understanding. "We need to work together on this," I say, my voice soft but urgent. "Whatever this is, it's not just a game. It's a test of our worthiness, and if we fail... well, I don't want to think about what might happen to us then."

I take a deep breath, steeling myself for whatever challenges may lie ahead. Whatever happens next, I think to myself, we'll face it together. And with Merrin by my side, I have a feeling that we can overcome any obstacle that stands in our way - no matter how dark or twisted it may be.

I turn back to the pit, my eyes fixed on the stone before us. "Let's do this," I say, my voice filled with grim determination. "Whatever it takes, whatever the cost, we'll find a way through this. And we'll save Varrika too. That's a promise."
