Round 89 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

Halie's eyes flash with an otherworldly light as she gestures towards the mirrors, her voice dripping with malevolence. "Look closely," she warns. "That is not Serrine." The reflection distorts further, revealing a version of Merrin with a twisted, inhuman grin. She raises her hand, and the mirror shatters into a thousand shards of glass. As the dust settles, Varrika stumbles forward, her eyes fixed on Merrin's distorted form. She takes a step back, her hand reaching for her mace. The crystal at the bottom of the pit pulses with an intense, blinding light, its power coursing through Varrika's mind like a river of madness. Suddenly, the light surges to a crescendo, and Varrika's body jerks violently, sending her stumbling to the ground. The chamber falls silent, except for the sound of Varrika's labored breathing. The mirror shards reflect the faint glow of the crystal, casting an eerie light on the twisted reflections. Halie's voice cuts through the silence, her tone a mixture of curiosity and warning: "Now, Merrin... tell me... what do you see?"
I stare at the shattered mirror, my eyes wide with horror as I take in the twisted reflection of myself. The crystal's power surges through my veins, threatening to overwhelm me with its madness. I can feel Varrika behind me, her labored breathing echoing through the chamber.
Halie's voice cuts through the silence, her tone a mixture of curiosity and warning. "Now, Merrin... tell me... what do you see?"
I turn to face her, my mace clutched tightly in my hand. "I see a twisted version of myself," I say, my voice shaking with fear and revulsion. "A reflection that I don't recognize, corrupted by the power of this place."
I take a step back, my eyes scanning the chamber for any sign of danger or salvation. The crystal at the bottom of the pit pulses with an otherworldly light, its influence growing stronger with each passing moment. "We need to find Serrine and get out of here," I say, my voice echoing through the chamber. "But I don't know how we're going to do it. This place... it's changing us, twisting us into something else."
I turn to Varrika, my eyes filled with concern as I take in her weakened state. "Varrika, are you okay?" I ask, my voice soft and gentle. But even as I speak, I can feel the madness of this place threatening to overwhelm me, its power seeping into my mind like a poison.
I raise my mace, ready to strike at whatever emerges from those twisted reflections. "Halie," I say, my voice shaking but determined. "If that really is you... we need to work together to get out of here. Can you hear me?"
I stagger to my feet, my head pounding as I try to make sense of what's happening around me. "Halie... I don't know what's going on," I say, my voice shaking with fear and confusion. "This place... it's changing us, twisting our minds."
I look over at Varrika, concern etched on my face as I see her struggling to stand. "Varrika, are you okay?" I ask, taking a step towards her.
But even as I move, I can feel the power of the crystal growing stronger, its influence seeping into my mind like a poison. The twisted reflections in the mirrors seem to beckon to me, their grotesque shapes promising some hidden truth. "We need to find Serrine and get out of here," I say, my voice echoing through the chamber. "But I don't know how we're going to do it. This place... it's too dangerous."
I raise my mace, ready to strike at whatever emerges from those twisted reflections. "Halie," I say, my voice shaking but determined. "If that really is you... we need to work together to get out of here. Can you hear me?"
But even as I speak, I can feel the madness of this place threatening to overwhelm me, its power seeping into my mind like a poison. And I know that if we don't find a way out soon, we may all be lost forever in this twisted realm.
