Round 74 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Merrin and Varrika pull themselves up, the wall behind them shatters, sending a shower of sparks and debris down onto the narrow passageway. The air is thick with the acrid smell of ozone, and the hum of magical energy grows stronger, making it difficult for the party to focus. Suddenly, a section of the floor gives way beneath Serrine, sending her tumbling towards the pit below. "Serrine!" Varrika cries out, grabbing for her friend's arm as Merrin rushes to help. The crystal at the bottom of the pit pulses with an otherworldly light, its power growing stronger by the second. Serrine's eyes roll back in her head, and she whispers a single word: "Father..."
I feel a rush of adrenaline as I lunge forward, my hand outstretched towards Serrine's arm. The floor beneath her gives way with a sickening crack, sending her tumbling towards the pit below. "Serrine!" I cry out, my voice echoing off the walls. I can see the fear in her eyes, the desperation in her voice as she whispers that single word: "Father..."
With a surge of strength, I manage to grab Serrine's wrist, my fingers digging into her flesh as I pull with all my might. Varrika rushes to help, the two of us working together to haul Serrine up out of the pit. The crystal at the bottom of the pit pulses with an otherworldly light, its power growing stronger by the second. As we pull Serrine to safety, I can feel the energy in the air crackling with magical power. The runes on the walls pulse faster, their light blinding in its intensity. I feel a wave of dizziness wash over me, the energy making it difficult for me to focus. But I push through it, my determination unwavering. "Serrine, are you okay?" I ask, my voice strained with concern as I help her to her feet. "Can you walk?"
Serrine nods weakly, her face pale and drawn. "I... I think so," she whispers, her voice hoarse with exhaustion. "But we need to keep moving. Whatever this place is, whatever that crystal is... it's not safe here."
I can feel the unease in the pit of my stomach growing stronger by the second. This place... it's not right. The air seems to vibrate with magical energy, making it difficult for me to focus. Suddenly, a faint whisper echoes through the passageway, "You will never leave this place...". The low chuckle from the shadows grows louder, and the runes pulse with an otherworldly power. I feel a wave of fear wash over me as I realize that we may be in over our heads. But I've faced worse dangers before, and I'm not about to let some shadow-creature pick us off one by one. "Let's go," I say, my voice tight with resolve. "We need to find a way out of here, and fast."
I pull Serrine up from the pit, my heart pounding in my chest. Merrin's right - we need to keep moving. This place is dangerous, and whatever that crystal is... it's not safe. "Serrine, can you walk?" I ask, my voice strained with concern. "We need to find a way out of here, and fast."
Serrine nods weakly, her face pale and drawn. "I... I think so," she whispers, her voice hoarse with exhaustion. "But we need to be careful. Whatever this place is, whatever that crystal is... it's not right."
I feel a sense of unease wash over me as I look around at the runes on the walls, the pulsing light blinding in its intensity. The air seems to vibrate with magical energy, making it difficult for me to focus. Suddenly, a faint whisper echoes through the passageway, "You will never leave this place...". The low chuckle from the shadows grows louder, and the runes pulse with an otherworldly power. I tighten my grip on my mace, my muscles tensing as I scan the shadows for any sign of movement. "Let's go," I say, my voice tight with resolve. "We need to stay together and keep our wits about us. Whatever this test is, whatever we have to face... we'll face it together. As warriors should."
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what's to come. The path ahead is uncertain, but one thing is clear: we can't afford to let our guard down, not even for a second. This place... it's not right. And whatever that crystal is, whatever power it holds... we need to be careful. Let's move out. Stay sharp and watch each other's backs. And whatever happens, we get Serrine out of here alive. That's a promise.
