As Varrika's mace blazes with light, illuminating the pulsing runes on the walls, Serrine's convulsions intensify. The air hums with ancient power, and the runes on the walls pulse in time with the light, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The humming noise reaches a fever pitch as Seraphine gasps out a single word: "No..." Suddenly, the ground beneath Varrika's feet gives way, and she stumbles into a hidden pit, her mace slipping from her grasp.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

A shock of fear floods through me as Varikka tumbles into the hidden pit, her mace clattering to the ground below. I rush to the edge, peering down into the darkness, my heart pounding in my ears. "Varikka!" I call out, my voice echoing off the ancient stones. "Are you alright?"

But there's no response, only the ominous hum of the runes and the low chuckle from the shadows. I glance over at Seraphine, but she's still clutching her head, her body shaking with pain. Whatever this place is... it's not safe. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what comes next. I've faced my share of dangers in my time, but something about this place feels different. More primal, more ancient. And whatever lurks in those shadows... it's not going to go down easy. I crouch at the edge of the pit, ready to spring into action if needed. But for now, all I can do is wait and watch, my hand tight on the hilt of my mace. Whatever this test is, whatever we have to face... we'll face it together. As a warrior should.

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

I catch myself on the edge of the pit, my heart pounding in my ears. Merrin's voice echoes down from above, full of concern, but I can't find my voice to respond. The air is thick with ancient magic, and the runes on the walls pulse faster, brighter, casting eerie shadows across my face. I reach for my mace, but it's just out of reach, lost in the darkness below. A wave of frustration washes over me - my weapon, my protection... gone. I can hear Merrin's footsteps above, the sound of her shifting weight as she crouches at the edge of the pit. "Varikka!" Her voice is tight with fear, and I know she's looking down at me, trying to gauge the distance, the danger. But there's no time to explain, no time to plan. The runes on the walls are pulsing faster now, their glow intensifying with each passing moment. Whatever this place is, whatever test we must face... I know we're in for a fight. I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what comes next. The air hums with ancient power, and I can feel the weight of the rune-carved walls pressing down on me. Whatever lurks in those shadows... it's not going to go down easy. But I've faced my share of dangers in my time, and I'm not about to let some shadow-creature pick us off one by one. I crouch at the edge of the pit, ready to spring into action if needed. But for now, all I can do is wait and watch, my hand tight on the hilt of my mace. Whatever this test is, whatever we have to face... we'll face it together. As a warrior should.
