The creature's scuttling legs quicken as it advances on the party, its unnatural hunger growing with each passing moment. The air is heavy with tension as Varrika readies her sword, her eyes fixed on the creature's movement. Merrin takes a cautious step back, her mace at the ready, while Seraphine weaves a subtle warding spell to slow the creature's approach. As the creature draws closer, its body begins to shift and writhe, its form blurring into a maddening tangle of limbs and eyes. The party exchanges uneasy glances, their breaths caught in their throats as the creature's twisted form fills the narrow corridor. Suddenly, the ground beneath them gives a sickening lurch, and the sound of distant rumbling echoes through the tunnel, threatening to engulf them all. The creature freezes, its eyes fixed on the party with a malevolent glare, as if sensing the approaching doom. The corridor begins to darken, the shadows deepening into an abyssal void that seems to swallow all light.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I feel a chill run down my spine as the creature's form blurs into an unnatural tangle of limbs and eyes, its hunger growing with each passing moment. The ground beneath us gives a sickening lurch, and the sound of distant rumbling echoes through the tunnel, threatening to swallow us whole.
My grip tightens on my mace as I take a cautious step back, my eyes fixed on the creature's malevolent glare. The shadows in the corridor seem to deepen, swallowing all light and hope.
I glance at Varrika and Seraphine, seeing the unease in their eyes. We're trapped, cornered by an unknown threat in a collapsing tunnel. Our only chance is to fight our way through, but exhaustion and injury gnaw at our strength.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what's to come. "We need to move," I say urgently, my voice hushed. "Now. Before the whole place comes down on top of us."
I edge forward, my mace held ready, my eyes scanning the corridor for any sign of escape. The creature's eyes follow me, its twisted form shifting and writhing as if preparing to spring.
I turn to Varrika and Seraphine, my expression grim but determined. "Varrika, you take the lead. Seraphine, watch our backs. And I'll keep this thing off us for as long as I can."

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I feel a wave of ice-cold terror wash over me as the creature's form blurs into an unnatural tangle of limbs and eyes, its hunger growing with each passing moment. The ground beneath us gives a sickening lurch, and the sound of distant rumbling echoes through the tunnel, threatening to swallow us whole. My heart hammers against my ribs, and I instinctively take a step back, my robes rustling softly in the oppressive silence.
My eyes dart around the deepening shadows, searching for any sign of escape or hope. There is none. We are trapped, cornered by an unknown threat in a collapsing tunnel. Our only chance is to fight our way through, but exhaustion and injury gnaw at our strength, and the creature's malevolent glare promises nothing but suffering.
I turn to Merrin and Varrika, seeing the grim determination on their faces. I know that look well—it's the same one I see in the mirror when I'm backed into a corner with no choice left. We have to move, even if it means facing our worst nightmares head-on.
"I agree," I say quickly, my voice a strained whisper over the rumble of the collapsing tunnel. "We need to move now. Before the whole place comes down on top of us."
My hands are already moving, weaving a complex pattern of magic in the air before me. It's a spell of protection and warding, designed to repel dark energies and physical assaults alike. The arcane energies hum around my fingers, a faint blue glow that seems almost pitiful against the encroaching darkness.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself for what’s to come. This is what we trained for, isn't it? To face the impossible and survive. Or at least, to fall with honor rather than cower in fear.
My eyes meet Merrin's, a silent acknowledgment passing between us. Then I turn to Varrika, my voice steady despite the fear churning in my gut. "Varrika, you take the lead. Merrin, watch our backs. And I'll keep this thing off us for as long as I can."
I feel the creature's eyes on me, a cold, predatory stare that makes my skin crawl. But there’s no time for fear now. Only action will save us.
"On three," I say, my voice dropping to a near-silent murmur. "One... two..."
I hold up a final finger, my gaze fixed on the writhing creature. The air crackles with impending violence and the unnerving sound of the collapsing tunnel. "Three!"
