Seraphine's fingers had barely left the surface of Khaos when the ground beneath them gave way with a sickening groan. The forest around them shimmered and shifted, the very air seeming to hold its breath as the entity's true nature began to reveal itself. Jeane reacted instantly, her wings half-spreading for balance even as she grabbed Seraphine by the arm and pulled her back from the crumbling edge. The wizard stumbled, her eyes wide with both awe and sudden terror as she found herself pressed against her friend's side.

Varrika spoke next, her voice barely above a whisper. "I saw... I felt like I was being pulled towards something," she said, taking a step forward despite the obvious danger. "A guiding force, like Khaos was leading me towards the pool." Her gaze remained fixed on the swirling surface of the entity, even as the ground continued to shift and change around them.

Merrin looked up from the ancient tome she held, her eyes shining with excitement despite the precarious situation. "I found this map that seems to match the patterns on Khaos," she said, opening the book to reveal intricate symbols that seemed to dance across the pages in the ethereal light.

Jeane's crimson eyes narrowed as she scanned the group, her voice sharp with authority. "Everyone back!" she commanded, spreading her wings instinctively for balance even as the cliff edge crumbled away behind them. Her voice was steady but carried an undertone of genuine alarm—the kind that made her hair stand on end despite centuries of composure.*

Seraphine felt a chill trace its way down her spine at Jeane's words, the sudden shift from revelatory warmth to suspicion making her heart hammer against her ribs. The ground shifted again beneath their feet, and she instinctively pressed herself closer to Jeane, seeking comfort in her friend's solid presence. Her gaze darted from Jeane’s stern expression to Varrika and Merrin, who looked equally unsettled by the cliff edge that had so suddenly appeared.

As the entity began to emit a warning hum—a sound like grinding stones—the forest around them seemed to hold its breath once more. The air crackled with raw magic, and Seraphine found herself wondering if they had indeed stumbled into something far beyond their understanding.
