The air crackled with residual magic as Jeane and Seraphine stood before the dark mirror. The elf woman's fingers hovered just above the glassy surface, hesitating for a long moment before finally making contact.
Jeane watched with growing unease as Seraphine's reflection seemed to shift and distort in ways that defied explanation. The air around them grew heavy with unseen energy, and she tightened her grip on the mace, ready to defend her friend from whatever might emerge.
"Careful," Jeane murmured, her crimson eyes fixed on the mirror's surface. "I don't like this."
Seraphine's breath caught as she felt a strange tingling sensation spread through her fingertips and up her arm. Her reflection in the glass seemed to move independently now, mouthing words that made no sound in their reality.
"What are you seeing?" Jeane asked, her voice barely above a whisper despite her best efforts to maintain composure. "Is it really showing you something? Or is this some kind of mindfuck deception?"
The chamber remained silent except for the soft hum of magic surrounding them both. Seraphine's heart hammered against her ribs as she wrestled with the decision—should she pull away immediately or try to understand what the mirror was truly offering?
"I... I'm not sure," she admitted, her voice strained. "But I can feel something. Like a connection opening between us and... somewhere else."
