The moment Seraphine’s fingers closed around the Time-Splitting Sword’s hilt, the chamber seemed to hold its breath. The sword’s energy surged through her like a living current, cold metal instantly heating against her skin until it felt almost fever-hot. The entity at the far end of the chamber screamed—a sound that wasn’t just noise but intention, pure and terrifying. Its dark tendrils, which had been dissipating under Jeane’s protection, suddenly lashed out, not toward the succubus but straight for Seraphine.
The wizard gasped as they curled around her arms, their touch sending a jolt through her body that wasn’t pain exactly, but something far worse—an electric violation of her senses. The sword’s power pulsed again, and this time she felt it clearly: ancient magic flooding her veins, filling her mind with visions and knowledge that weren’t hers.

"Get back!" Jeane snarled, stepping between Seraphine and the approaching threat. "Whatever that thing is, it wants the sword, and I’m not letting you—"
"—Wait," Seraphine cut her off, her voice barely above a whisper but somehow carrying across the suddenly silent space. The sword’s energy was singing in her blood now, filling her with understanding even as it terrified her. "I think... I think this is what we were meant to find."
