Round 84 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in Storage chamber at the base of a descending passage tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
Jeane's crimson eyes flash dangerously in the gloom of the chamber, her wings twitching with barely contained agitation beneath her cloak. Fine. You want to play games? Let's play. A cold smile plays across her lips as she lowers her crossbow ever so slightly, though her grip remains firm. But know this, guardian—I'm not some innocent maiden who'll be swayed by pretty words and riddles. I've walked paths of power most mortals can scarcely imagine, and I won't hesitate to put a bolt through that smug little box of yours if it means our survival. She shifts her weight, wincing as pain flares from the stone shard still embedded in her thigh. Every second we waste on this farce is a second that thing above us could come crashing down. So either tell us what we need to do, or step aside so we can find our own way out of this cursed place. Jeane's gaze hardens as she glares at the floating puzzle box. And make no mistake—I don't care about 'Eros' or any god of love. The only thing that matters is getting us all to safety. So either give us a real solution, or prepare to face the consequences of our desperation. She turns her attention back to Kael, her voice dripping with sarcasm. Oh, and do try to make it quick—my leg's killing me, and I'd rather not die down here from infection because some ancient relic couldn't get to the point in under an hour.
I watch Jeane's anger flare, her threat hanging in the air like a physical thing. It’s a dangerous game she plays, baiting the guardian, but I can’t deny the thrill it sends through me. We have little left to love down here, and her defiance is a spark of life in this oppressive darkness.
My eyes dart between Jeane and Kael, caught in the middle of their tense standoff. The creature above us still hasn't returned, but every moment of quiet feels like a prelude to a terrible ending. I step forward, placing myself slightly in front of Jeane, my voice low and steady as I speak to both of them.
"I understand your frustration, Jeane. But we must be smart about this." I turn my attention back to Kael, my expression hardening into something close to a challenge. "However, you should know that our time is truly precious here. The monster above us... it's unlike anything I've ever faced. It seems to have some kind of power over reality itself. We need more than riddles if we're to survive this."
I look down at the small, ornate box floating before Kael, its surface gleaming with an inner light that seems to beckon me closer. "The riddle... it felt like a fragment of some greater truth. 'Eros', the god of love? What could that possibly mean in a place like this?" My brow furrows as I try to make sense of it all. "We need answers, Jeane. And right now, this is our only lead." I turn back to Kael, my posture straightening as I address him directly. "Tell us what we need to do to solve your puzzle. But know this—we won't wait all night for a solution. Our lives are on the line here."
My gaze drops to the small, ornate box floating before Kael. It seems to pulse with an inner light, almost hypnotic in its beauty. I feel a strange pull towards it, a whisper of magic that makes the hair on my arms stand on end. Whatever power this puzzle holds, we may have no choice but to unravel it.
