As Seraphine tries to get Jeane out of the place, the dark reflections of Merrin and Halie begin to move closer. Their twisted faces seem to twist into cruel smiles, their eyes burning with an otherworldly energy. The air in the archway grows colder, the pulsating blue radiance from the runes casting eerie shadows on the walls. Suddenly, the stone floor beneath Seraphine's feet begins to rumble, the ground shaking with a low, ominous growl. The dark reflections halt their approach, their attention fixed on the opening behind Seraphine. She turns to see a section of the wall slide open, revealing a narrow passageway that seems to stretch deep into the earth. The reflection pool's water begins to churn once more, as if responding to some unseen force. Jeane's eyes flicker open, her gaze unfocused and wild. "Seraphine... we can't stay here," she whispers, her voice barely audible over the growing turmoil in the archway.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I feel my heart hammering against my ribs as the ground beneath us begins to tremble. The dark reflections of Merrin and Halie stop their approach, their eyes fixed on the opening behind me. A low, ominous rumbling fills the air, vibrating through the stone floor and up my legs. I look down at Jeane, still cradled in my arms, her eyes wide with fear. She's right—we can't stay here.
The water in the reflection pool starts to churn again, swirling in a hypnotic pattern that seems to be pulling towards the new opening. It's as if the very magic of this place is adjusting, shifting its focus to what lies beyond. I struggle to my feet, keeping a firm grip on Jeane to prevent her from falling back into the water.
"I agree," I say, my voice a strained whisper over the growing noise. "This place... it's not right. We need to get out before whatever this is gets worse."
I take a step towards the dark passage, then hesitate. The pulsating runes on the walls seem to intensify their glow, casting an even more unsettling light across the chamber. Every instinct is screaming at me to run, but where? The pool we came from is clearly no longer an option.
The reflection of Merrin lets out a low, guttural sound that chills me to the bone. It's not quite a laugh, but something worse—a sound of cruel amusement at our predicament. I shiver, pulling Jeane closer protectively. Whatever happens next, we have to face it together.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I sit up fully now my movements still sluggish but no longer impossible. The weight of the dark reflection has lifted from my mind—I can think clearly again without that malevolent presence clawing at the edges of consciousness. My eyes focus on Seraphine kneeling nearby her expression concerned as she looks down at me. Behind her I see the dark reflections of Merrin and Halie hovering at the chamber's edge like malevolent spirits—their faces contorted into expressions of pure malice their eyes glowing with the same malevolent energy that fills this place. "Help me up," I say to Seraphine my voice stronger now. "We can't stay here—whatever this place is it's dangerous." The runic symbols pulsing on the walls seem to intensify their glow as if responding to my words. I shiver involuntarily—the very magic of this chamber feels wrong twisted. As Seraphine helps me to my feet I test my legs finding them surprisingly steady despite the phantom pain in my healed wound. My body feels strange too—lighter somehow as if shed of something heavy I didn't even realize I was carrying until it was gone. The reflection pool's water begins to churn again swirling in a hypnotic pattern that seems to be pulling towards the new opening. It's as if the very magic of this place is adjusting shifting its focus to what lies beyond. I watch warily as the dark reflections of Merrin and Halie remain motionless their attention fixed on us but making no move to approach. "We need to get out before whatever this is gets worse," I say looking towards the dark passage. "But we should be prepared for—"
