As the molten rock continued to churn ominously near the rope's anchor point, Silra crouched low by the pit's edge, her eyes fixed intently on the seam she had traced with her dagger. "This isn't natural," she muttered, her voice laced with a mix of irritation and concern. Jeane's hands pulsed with dark energy as she planted her unholy symbol into the ground, her eyes never leaving Silra's face. "Two seconds—tell me if that mechanism can be disabled," she commanded, her voice cold and detached.

Sister Hale lunged forward, grabbing Gravedigger Renn by his collar just as Silra was about to kick him away again. Her voice was sharp with a mix of weariness and concern, but also a sense of duty. "Stop it," she snapped at Silra, her eyes scanning the pit's edge for any sign of danger. The steam from the molten rock singed her skin, but she stood firm, ready to defend Gravedigger Renn against whatever lay ahead.

As Jeane finished her spell, a blast of dark energy shot out from her hands, striking the pit's mechanism with incredible force. The sound of grinding stone and screeching metal filled the air, and for a moment, it seemed as though the very earth itself was being torn apart. But then, slowly, the mechanism began to fail, its deadly trap releasing its hold on the rope with a loud clang.
