Phase: escalating

As the ground continued to rumble ominously beneath their feet, Silra and Sister Hale exchanged a tense glance. The glowing eyes from downstairs seemed to be adjusting their focus, as if trying to pinpoint the source of Gravedigger Renn's terror-smell. The elf rogue stood poised by the window, her movements economical and deliberate, while the cleric watched with a mixture of concern and wariness.
Gravedigger Renn's wails echoed through the common room, his body trembling violently against the wall as he recounted his terrifying experience in the tunnel system. The terror-smell intensified, making it harder for Silra to think clearly. She felt her anxiety spike, her hand instinctively tightening around the hilt of her dagger.
The runes on the wall pulsed with an otherworldly energy, and the ground continued to roll, the rhythm shifting slightly each time. Sister Hale's grip on her unholy symbol had tightened, and she watched with a sense of foreboding as Gravedigger Renn's terror-smell seemed to be drawing them in. The cleric's eyes darted between the cellar doorway and Silra, who stood frozen by the window, her teal eyes fixed intently on something below.
As the ground pulsed again, Silra felt a shiver run down her spine. The glowing eyes from downstairs seemed to be focusing on Gravedigger Renn's face, as if they were trying to pinpoint the source of his terror-smell. She knew she had to act soon, or risk being drawn into whatever horrors lay beneath their feet.
