Phase: resolution · forced · organic escalating

The air was heavy with tension as Sister Hale's struggle against the unseen force continued, her eyes fixed on Gravedigger Renn as he stood frozen in place, his frantic gestures now a distant memory. The massive chitinous limb, mere inches from their faces, scuttled closer, its rhythmic bursts of ash and debris sending the party into a state of heightened alertness. Sister Hale's voice was low and urgent, her words barely audible over the growing din of the scuttling noise, which seemed to emanate from the very ground itself.
"I won't let you go," she said, her eyes locked on Gravedigger Renn as she strained against the force holding her back. "We need answers, and I won't leave without them." The brick she had pried loose from the wall clattered to the ground, revealing a small, hidden compartment beneath it. A piece of parchment fluttered out, caught in the wind, before settling at Sister Hale's feet. She stooped to pick it up, her gaze scanning the cryptic message scrawled on its surface: "The tunnels are not what they seem."
