As the city guard leader growls, "We need to get out of here," he takes a step back, his hand tightening on his sword hilt. The party exchanges nervous glances. Suddenly, the scuttling noise stops, and an unsettling silence falls over the ash-choked road. Gravedigger Renn trembles, his eyes darting between the guards and the tunnel system below. "P-please, you have to believe me! There's something down there, something that's been awakened." The massive chitinous limb bursts forth from the darkness beneath the street once more, its claws scraping against stone mere inches from Jeane's face. The city guard leader eyes Gravedigger Renn warily before addressing the party. "What's going on here? We've had reports of strange noises and movements in the area." The guards begin to close in on the party, their hands resting on the hilts of their swords.
