The darkness seemed to writhe around Sister Hale like a living entity, its shadows twisting into grotesque forms that danced across the walls of the alleyway. The air was heavy with the scent of decay and damp earth, and the sound of scuttling creatures echoed through the ruins like a chorus of the damned. Jeane's arcane energy swirled around her hand, illuminating the path ahead as she descended into the depths alongside Sister Hale.

"Hale, we're in blind," Jeane muttered to herself, weighing the options as they prepared to drop down into the unknown. The ground shuddered violently beneath their feet, sending debris flying as massive chitinous claws scraped the stone near the grating. Silra swiftly moved to secure her lantern, its light casting flickering shadows on the walls as she prepared for their descent.

Sister Hale's eyes were fixed intently on the grating, her unholy symbol clutched tightly in her hand. The whispering grew louder, a raspy voice hissing "Turn back...while you still can..." as it echoed through the ruins. She forced herself to breathe through her nose, sharp and controlled, her heart pounding in her chest. Gravedigger Renn's frantic warnings about "the tunnels" and "danger below" still lingered in her mind, making her skin crawl with unease.

Jeane's gaze was fixed on the grating as well, her crimson eyes narrowing as she weighed Silra's tactical assessment against the creeping dread that gripped her spine. Something about this setup felt...off, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. "Consider what we know," Jeane said, her voice low and measured. "We've got multiple smaller creatures emerging from tunnels, a massive chitinous limb bursting forth from darkness...and whispers of 'Turn back...' echoing through the ruins."
