Phase: resolution · forced · organic escalating

As the stone-skin creature continued its frantic scraping, Silra drew closer, her teal eyes fixed on the glowing green orbs. The air vibrated with an unseen force, and the Devourer lunged once more, but she dodged to the side just in time. "Fine," she muttered, "I'll play along for now, but if our stone-skinned friend starts vibrating with secrets instead of giving us something useful about that Devourer, I reserve the right to start asking questions... aggressively." She shifted her grip on the throwing knife, testing edge and balance in one fluid motion.
Sister Hale stood firm behind them, her mace at the ready. "I trust you to watch our rear flank," she said, her voice steady and reassuring, though a flicker of wariness crossed her face as she met the creature's glowing green eyes. She took a measured step forward, choosing her words carefully while still keeping pace with their slow advance. "I hear your proposal," she said, "and I'm willing to listen. But let us proceed with caution." The stone-skin creature's scraping sound grew louder, faster now, as whatever was behind them drew closer.
