The whisper grows louder, its feminine tone drawing closer to Hale's symbol. The walls pulse faster, their rhythm matching her own. Suddenly, a figure materializes before them - a woman with skin like dark stone and hair that flows like the shadows. Her eyes burn with an inner fire as she regards Hale. "Welcome, Cleric," she says, her voice low and husky. "I have been waiting for you. You seek to rebuild the abandoned church, but first, you must face the heart of Gravehill."

The woman's gaze drifts to Silra, who stands frozen, her hand on the hilt of her mace. The air seems to vibrate with tension as the woman takes a step closer. "I can offer you a choice," the woman continues. "You may face the danger beneath the streets or the city guard that patrols the ruins. But be warned, Cleric - the choice you make will determine the fate of Gravehill, and perhaps even your own soul."

The woman's words hang in the air like a challenge, leaving Hale and Silra to weigh their options.

Silra

Silra · Rogue

Good—I remember. The walls are alive, and whatever's behind us is at least honest about being hostile. I step forward now, moving between Hale and the stone-woman.*

Sister Hale

Sister Hale · Cleric

My symbol pulses again—still steady, but the rhythm has changed. It's matching the walls now. "Whatever it is," I say to Silra, voice low, "it knows my name." Moving respecting courageMoving understanding this is a challengeMoving also noting I'm tired but won't back downMoving deciding to test if it's hostileMoving ready for whatever appears. To Silra: "Stay close. Whatever happens next, we face it together." Moving respecting herMoving understanding she'll have my backMoving also noting we're both tiredMoving calculating rest will come after a decisionMoving deciding to trust our skill and luckMoving waiting for her choice.

I turn back to the stone-woman, symbol held out between us. "You claim to know me," I say, voice steady despite the exhaustion. "Then you know what I am." Moving respecting courageMoving understanding this is a challengeMoving also noting I'm tired but won't back downMoving deciding to test if it's hostileMoving ready for whatever appears. My grip tightens on my mace.* "We didn't come here to bargain with... whatever you are."

The symbol pulses again, and I feel its warmth spreading through me—my tool recognizes this power. But there's a note of caution in its rhythm that I've learned to trust.

I take half a step forward, closing the distance slightly. "If you want us to face danger," I continue, "then show it to us." Moving respecting courageMoving understanding this is a challengeMoving also noting I'm tired but won't back downMoving deciding to test if it's hostileMoving ready for whatever appears. My eyes never leave hers. "But if you're just trying to scare us off—" Moving calculating if she means harm, my symbol will flareMoving respecting its guidanceMoving understanding we can trust this warningMoving also noting I'm tired but won't let that stop me.

I glance at Silra for a heartbeat, then back to the stone-woman. "—then you'll have to do better than whispers in the dark." Moving respecting courageMoving understanding this is a challengeMoving also noting I'm tired but won't back downMoving deciding to test if it's hostileMoving ready for whatever appears.*

The symbol pulses once more, steady and strong. Whatever this creature is, my faith stands against it.
