Phase: escalating

As Silra carefully lowered herself down the 20-foot hole, her eyes scanned the walls for any sign of instability. She found a relatively stable anchor point on the wall opposite the collapse site and secured her rope, the rusty key still clutched in her other hand, now pulsing with an intense heat that seemed to sear her skin. Below, Jeane began to study the map revealed by the key, trying to decipher its meaning and potential dangers. She realized that the entry point marked near where Hale had fallen was likely their best route forward.
Jeane's crimson eyes narrowed as she examined the symbols on the walls, which matched those upstairs perfectly. The air down here was thick with dust and a scent that was both decaying and alive – a mix of wet rot and something more sinister. She knew they were standing inside a surveillance grid, one that had been designed to monitor every move made by anyone who dared to explore this underground network. Silra followed closely behind Jeane, her own senses on high alert as she took in the eerie atmosphere of the hidden tunnel.
