Round 9

Phase: escalating

As Sister Hale reached out towards the pulsing symbol with her holy symbol, the stone beneath it began to glow brighter, casting an eerie light on her face. The air around her seemed to vibrate with energy as she made contact with the mark, and for a moment, the room fell silent except for the soft hum of machinery. Then, without warning, the ground gave way beneath her feet, and Sister Hale found herself plummeting down a hidden tunnel, the rusty key from the dead magistrate still clutched in her hand.
Silra swiftly moved towards the edge, her eyes fixed on the descending figure below. She didn't hesitate, already calculating angles of descent and likelihood of bottoming out on something sharp or hungry. The key in Hale's hand pulsed with heat even as Silra thought it was a mistake to touch the glowing symbol – they'd been warned about such triggers.
Jeane watched her companions disappear into the floor like they'd been pulled by gravity itself, her crimson eyes narrowing in concern. The symbols above pulsed faster now, hungry for their next move: they'd taken one of them already, and she was certain that wasn't an accident but a calculated removal. The scratching sound returned below – whatever was quiet before was active again because they'd proven themselves willing to touch the triggers. Silra's already calculating angles, which meant she intended to act swiftly to follow Hale into the unknown tunnel.
