Round 34

Jeane’s skin crawls as the ancient horror continues speaking—its words carrying weight she doesn’t want to acknowledge. The manor house mechanisms overhead grind faster, ominous creaks echoing through the night air. Silra stands a few feet away, her fingers tracing the ward stone’s edge with professional curiosity even as her eyes remain fixed on the monstrous form emerging from the crater.
Inside Jeane’s head, calculations race: the creature claims to be ancient guardian, but its methods stink of manipulation. Three choices? Bullshit. She knows better than to trust offers from things that crawl out of the dirt—especially ones connected to her family legacy. The manor house groans again, something massive shifting weight inside its walls. Sister Hale stands between them and the horror, hand tight around her mace handle—ready to charge without thinking through consequences.
Silra speaks then, voice cool and measured: "Situation assessment: we've got a talking monster claiming it needs our help." Her fingers continue mapping the ward stone mechanism. "And whatever's happening upstairs isn't designed for comfort. Interesting. You said 'recalibration'?" Jeane can see the rogue’s mind working—assessing threats, looking for angles.
The ground pulses beneath their feet again, vibration strong enough to make Jeane stumble half a step. The horror tilts further back, antennae whipping toward her specifically now. "The bloodline component awakens…" Its voice carries amusement and something darker. "How delightful. The last lock recognizing its purpose."
