The structure above them shifts again, stone grinding against stone as the manor house’s mechanisms continue their slow rotation. The ancient entity lies partially emerged from the crater, tentacles twitching with anticipation or irritation—it’s hard to tell which. Three distinct heartbeats pulse beneath the earth now: the creature before them, something deeper responding, and a third location further off that might be the manor house itself.

Silra moves carefully along the foundation stones, tracing their layout with her eyes while maintaining distance from the monster. Each ward stone she steps on lights up with fading blue light before dimming to darkness—she’s following some invisible path of structural integrity that might provide escape options if things go sideways fast.

Jeane stands between Silra and Sister Hale, one hand gripping her rapier hilt loosely, the other clutching the unholy symbol that pulses against her palm in time with the earth’s heartbeat. Her expression shows horror warring with calculation—she wants answers but knows this situation is rapidly spiraling beyond simple monster-slaying.

Sister Hale has backed away several paces, hands still over her ears from the shriek, mace dangling forgotten at her side as she stares at the creature with a mix of religious outrage and genuine terror. The holy symbol around her neck glows faintly—weakly—but it’s glowing nonetheless, which means this thing is not entirely immune to divine power despite its obvious corruption.

The air grows heavy with anticipation: four women standing between two worlds, one ancient horror demanding choice, and the ground itself breathing in sync with multiple heartbeats counting down toward some unknown conclusion.
