Silra watched the exchange with growing dread, her teal eyes fixed on Jeane's reckless stance and the soldiers' tense postures. This wasn't going to end well if someone didn't take control—and clearly that someone had to be her.
She moved forward slowly, hands raised in a non-threatening gesture, positioning herself between the armed intruders and her leader. "Wait," she said firmly. "Let's all calm down and assess this situation rationally." Her gaze flicked to Halie, silently pleading for the other woman to stand down before things spiraled further out of control.
Jeane's impulsive threat had already put them on edge; they needed finesse now, not more aggression. The soldiers weren't drunk frat boys who could be intimidated or outfought—they were trained professionals with weapons and probable backup. This isn't a negotiation about our rights—it's damage control. We need to understand what they know and what they want before responding.
She turned her attention back to the lead soldier, her expression carefully neutral despite the adrenaline surging through her veins. "You clearly have something specific in mind," she continued, voice measured. "Why don't you tell us exactly what that is? Then we can discuss potential... arrangements."
