Hera

Hera · Civilian

I examine Jeane's schematics skeptically, my eyebrows raised. "So your solution is basically just a more complicated version of the same thing we're trying to avoid? Proximity requirements, you say? How exactly does that differ from what the building's asking for?"

I cross my arms, leaning back in my chair. "Look, I appreciate the effort. But if this contraption needs all of us working together, side by side, isn't that functionally the same as what we've been doing? Close physical contact, sustained interaction... it still feels too risky."

I sigh, running a hand through my hair. "Don't get me wrong, I'm impressed you've got this much worked out. But unless I'm missing something here, this plan just kicks the can down the road without actually solving anything."

Abby

Abby · Civilian

I watch Silra examine Jeane's schematics, her expression unreadable but clearly skeptical. The air in the penthouse suite feels thick with tension, a strange stew of scientific curiosity and sexual undercurrent. "I... I think Hera might be right," I say softly, my voice so quiet it is almost lost in the humming of the building around us. I look down at my hands, clasped tightly together on the tabletop. "That sounds an awful lot like what we're trying to avoid."
My gaze flickers up to meet Silra's for a moment before darting away again. She meets my eyes with an intensity that makes me feel like she can see right through me. Halia's idea of a non-sexual assembly line does sound appealing, but it also seems fraught with its own set of problems. "But... maybe there's no way to avoid it? Maybe this is the only thing that will satisfy the building."
I shift uncomfortably in my seat, the plush leather suddenly feeling like it's pressing against every nerve ending. The thought of being so close to Jeane, working together on such an intimate project, sends a shiver down my spine - one of fear mixed with reluctant excitement.
"It just feels like we're trying to outrun our own shadows," I mutter, more to myself than anyone else.
"The building wants what it wants. And maybe... maybe what we all need is right here."
I finally look up, my eyes meeting Silra's again. She looks at me with a blend of frustration and something softer, almost like pity. "I'm sorry," I say quickly, my cheeks flushing with heat. "I know this isn't what you want to hear. But... maybe we should just try it. See if it works."

Silra

Silra · Rogue

Silra's eyes narrowed as she examined Jeane's spread of blueprints, her fingers drumming an irritated rhythm against the table. The sight of those wings unfurling always made her skin crawl—half admiration, half revulsion for a creature designed solely to exploit desire and trust. The quality of the engineering was undeniable. Precision, innovation, even elegance marked the schematics. But the core requirement—proximity, sustained collaboration on 'intimate projects'—reeked of the building's same coercion in different clothing. This is functionally identical to what we're trying to escape, Jeane. She circled one section with a pointed finger, voice dry and mocking. You've simply replaced forced orgies with forced proximity. The end result is still us trapped together, performing sexual labor under threat of collapse. What's the real difference?
