Phase: converging · forced · organic escalating

The building’s groan was a low rumble that vibrated through the floorboards, a constant reminder of their precarious situation. Halie stood between Jeane and Silra, her cleric’s instincts warring against the growing pressure from both quarters. The succubus’ eyes glowed with barely contained energy, while the elf’s teal gaze remained cool and focused—though a flush crept up her neck as Jeane’s influence brushed against her mind.
“Wait,” Halie said firmly, stepping forward. “Let’s think this through before we start compromising our principles for temporary comforts.” Her blue-grey eyes darted between the two women, anxiety clear in their depths. “We need a solution—fast—but not at any cost.”
Silra set down the welder with deliberate care, turning to face Jeane properly. Her expression was neutral, but her eyes were sharp and calculating. “Let’s be clear about what we’re building here,” she said, her voice even. “I’m an engineer, not a sex toy designer.” She gestured sharply at the damaged sybian on the workbench. “The structural integrity of this thing matters more than how pretty it looks or how much fun you think it’ll be.”
Jeane’s wings shifted restlessly as she watched Silra work at the desk. The elf woman’s precision with tools was admirable—something a demon might appreciate even while finding it annoying that her focus seemed so…unshaken by other stimuli. “You know,” Jeane purred, moving closer to peer at the blueprints spread across the table, “I could help make this stronger. Not just mechanically, but… structurally.” She let a tendril of influence brush against Silra’s awareness, not quite a push but definitely a suggestion that lingered just below the surface of conscious thought.
The building rumbled again, louder this time—a warning or a demand? Halie bit her lip, torn between her cleric’s duty to protect and her growing anxiety about their situation. She knew they needed to satisfy the building’s demands, but at what cost? And how far was Jeane willing to push Silra’s boundaries to get what she wanted?
Silra’s teal eyes narrowed fractionally as Jeane’s influence brushed against her mind. ('Flirting won’t change the physics here,’ she thought, though a traitorous part of her wondered what it would be like to feel those wings brush against her skin.) “Optimize how?” she asked, crossing her arms over her chest in a defensive posture.
