Jeane's smile widens fractionally—predatory interest flickering in her crimson eyes as she leans back against the arm of the couch, wings shifting to frame her like dark silk. The movement draws attention to her breasts, nipples still hard from earlier stimulation or perhaps just the thrill of negotiation.

"Oh? A test run?" The demon's voice purrs with amusement. "How very... cautious of you." She crosses one leg over the other, ankle still adorned with the familiar gold bracelet that marks her as bound to this world's rules—at least partially. "Very well then. What terms would satisfy your... concerns?"

Halie's grip on my shoulder tightens almost imperceptibly—a silent question or perhaps a warning. I ignore it for now, focusing on Jeane's face rather than letting my eyes drift down her curves like every other man in the room seems to be doing.

"Simple terms," I say coolly. "No binding magic unless I explicitly agree each time—and you define exactly what 'enhanced senses' and 'healing' mean before we start anything." My teal eyes lock with hers. "I want specifics, not vague promises of power."

Jeane's expression shifts—something between respect and irritation crossing her features before settling into a more neutral mask. She uncrosses her legs slowly, deliberately, before standing in one fluid motion.

"Very well," she says, voice still smooth but with an edge now. "I'll outline the... mechanics." She moves toward the kitchen area, putting space between us—perhaps to signal openness or perhaps just because she doesn't like being cornered. Either way, I follow her movement with my eyes while staying put.

"Enhanced senses means you'd perceive magical auras clearly—spells in use, traps, hidden enchantments," Jeane explains over her shoulder, reaching for one of the discarded water bottles. "Your physical senses would also sharpen considerably—taste, touch, smell all improved." She takes a sip before continuing. "As for healing..." Here she pauses, turning to face me fully. "...it's not automatic regeneration but rather accelerated natural healing. You'd heal faster from injuries and be more resistant to poisons and diseases."

I file away the information—useful, certainly, but also exactly the kind of power that comes with strings attached. Jeane watches my expression carefully as I process.

"Those terms acceptable?" she asks, capping the bottle and leaning against the counter.

"Not yet," I reply evenly. "What's the cost? Beyond the obvious... physical payment." My eyes flick briefly to Halie—still standing guard—and back to Jeane. "There has to be something else."

Jeane's smile returns, slow and knowing. "Perceptive little thing, aren't you?" She sets the bottle down carefully. "The cost is... influence. I'd have limited ability to sway your thoughts and emotions while we're..." she gestures vaguely between us "...connected. Nothing permanent, nothing that overrides your will completely—but I can make suggestions feel more appealing than they should."

I feel Halie's hand slide from my shoulder—she's moving, circling around to position herself between me and the door while still keeping Jeane in sight. Smart move.

"Limited influence," I repeat skeptically. "Define limited."

Jeane's wings shift again, a subtle sign of frustration or maybe just discomfort with the direction this conversation is taking. "I can't control you," she says, voice carrying a touch more heat than before. "I can't make you do anything against your nature—just... nudge your existing inclinations slightly."

My eyes narrow fractionally as I process this. Existing inclinations. What exactly does that mean coming from someone who's already figured out my attraction to women? Is she implying she knows something about me I haven't even admitted to myself yet?

"Existing inclinations," I say slowly, each word measured. "And what exactly do you know about those?"

Jeane's smile turns almost predatory now—she knows she's hit a nerve and is pressing her advantage. "I know what every man in this room wishes he could have," she purrs, gaze flicking meaningfully toward Halie before returning to me. "But more importantly—I know what you want for yourself."

The challenge hangs between us—implicit rather than explicit. I can call her bluff here and now, force the issue of my sexuality into the open where everyone can see it... or I can play this smart and extract more information first.

I choose the latter.

"Flattery won't change my mind," I say coolly, crossing my arms. "But since you're offering such... insightful analysis..." My eyes flick to Halie again—she's watching our exchange with barely concealed suspicion, hand resting casually near one of the many weapons she keeps hidden beneath her robes. "...maybe you can explain exactly how this 'influence' works in practice?"

Jeane's expression shifts—she clearly expected a different response and is recalibrating her approach. Good. Keep her off balance.

"In practice?" she repeats, voice smooth but with an undercurrent of calculation. "Well, for example..." She pushes off from the counter and moves closer, stopping just out of arm's reach. Her wings shift again, this time in a way that draws attention to their span rather than hiding them. "Right now, I could suggest that having my wings wrapped around you during... activities... might be more appealing than it should be."

I feel Halie tense behind me—she's moved closer, ready to intervene if needed. Smart girl.

"And?" I prompt, keeping my voice neutral despite the mental image Jeane just planted. "What exactly would that entail?"

Jeane's smile turns knowing. "Oh, nothing you wouldn't enjoy already," she says casually. "But with enhanced sensitivity from the binding? Every point of contact between us would feel..." She pauses for effect. "...intense."

I can feel my pulse quickening—both from the implications and from Halie's proximity. This is exactly the kind of seductive bullshit I was expecting, and yet...

"Intense how?" I ask, voice still steady despite the direction this conversation is heading.

Jeane's eyes gleam with triumph—she thinks she's making progress. "Every touch would be like electricity," she explains, voice dropping to a near-whisper. "Every kiss would feel like..." She trails off, letting the implication hang in the air between us.

Behind me, Halie makes a small sound of protest—she doesn't like where this is going one bit. But I need more information before I make a decision.

"Electricity," I repeat, forcing my voice to remain level despite the mental images now crowding my thoughts. "And how long would this... intensity last?"

Jeane's smile widens fractionally—she knows she has me hooked and is reeling me in. "As long as we're..." She gestures vaguely between us again. "...connected. The moment we separate, everything returns to normal."

I feel Halie's hand brush my shoulder—silent warning or perhaps just reflexive tension. I ignore it, focusing on Jeane's face.

"And this is the full extent of your influence?" I press. "Just... heightened sensitivity during physical contact?"

Jeane laughs softly—a sound that manages to be both seductive and irritating simultaneously. "Oh no," she says, shaking her head slowly. "That's just the surface level. The real fun comes when you start to notice things... differently."

"Differently how?" I ask, even though part of me already knows I shouldn't be asking these questions—shouldn't be engaging with this kind of temptation.

Jeane leans in slightly, her voice dropping further. "You'd start seeing the world through a different lens," she explains, eyes locked with mine. "Every person you meet would have an aura—intentions made visible. Every emotion would be... louder." She pauses for emphasis. "And every desire would become much harder to ignore."

Behind me, Halie shifts position again—clearly uncomfortable with this line of conversation but also unwilling to interrupt. Smart girl.

I feel my resolve wavering—this sounds like exactly the kind of advantage I need in our line of work. But at what cost?

"Harder to ignore how?" I press, voice barely above a whisper now.

Jeane's smile turns almost sympathetic—she knows she has me on the ropes and is delivering the final blow. "Imagine walking into a crowded room," she says softly. "Instead of just seeing people, you'd feel their desires like they were your own." Her eyes gleam with anticipation. "Every lustful thought, every hidden fantasy... it would all be laid bare to you."

I can feel Halie's tension mounting—she knows exactly where this is heading and doesn't like it one bit. But I need to know...

"And you could use that?" I ask, voice hoarse despite my efforts to maintain control. "Use my new... perception... to influence me?"

Jeane shakes her head slowly, almost regretfully. "No," she says, and for once her tone seems genuinely honest. "I wouldn't need to. You'd be able to feel every desire in the room—the only question would be whether you act on them or not."

Behind me, Halie finally speaks up—her voice tight with barely contained anger. "Enough of this bullshit," she snarls, moving to stand beside me rather than behind. "You're not binding Silra to anything, especially not something that sounds like it would turn her into a walking temptation."

Jeane's expression flickers—frustration crossing her features before settling back into cool composure. She meets Halie's glare with steady crimson eyes.

"And you are?" she asks coolly.

"Someone who gives a shit about Silra's autonomy," Halie snaps, stepping closer to me in a clear show of solidarity. "And I'm not buying this 'can't control her' line for one second—if you can make desires feel more appealing than they should..." She gestures sharply between Jeane and me. "...then what's stopping you from just... amplifying whatever inclinations she already has?"

Jeane's wings shift again—this time in a way that suggests she's tensing rather than trying to seduce. "Because I said so," she says, voice carrying an edge that wasn't there before. "You think I haven't thought about the implications of what I'm offering? The potential for... misuse?"

Halie doesn't back down—if anything, she steps closer still. "Then don't offer it at all!" she shouts, clearly past caring about diplomacy now. "If you're honest about the risks, then walk away! Find some other poor sap to tempt!"

Jeane's eyes narrow dangerously—she doesn't like being challenged in her own domain, especially not by someone who clearly isn't impressed by her demonic allure. But before she can respond...

"Hey!" A new voice cuts through the tension—the kind of bright, oblivious tone that suggests its owner has no idea what they just interrupted. We all turn to see Abby standing in the doorway, looking confused and aroused in equal measure. "What's going on? I thought we were here for..." She gestures vaguely at the array of sex toys still scattered around the room.

The moment breaks—Jeane's expression shifts from anger back to cool calculation as she reassesses the situation. Halie looks like she wants to say more but is clearly torn between protecting me and not wanting to traumatize our innocent civilian any further.

And me? I'm standing here wondering how the hell we went from negotiating contract terms to almost coming to blows while a half-naked succubus tries to seduce me with promises of enhanced perception...

This night just got a whole lot more complicated.
