Halie stood firm between them, a living barrier of protective intent—her hand still on Silra's shoulder grounding them both in reality while her blue-grey eyes locked onto Jeane's crimson ones with unwavering suspicion. The demon woman had expected compliance or at least hesitation from the group's cleric, but Halie's stance made it clear she wouldn't let this binding happen without a fight.

"Listen here," Halie began, her voice measured but unyielding, "I don't care how much power you're offering—contracts with demons always have teeth. The terms are too vague, the risks too high." She squeezed Silra's shoulder lightly before continuing, "You're not signing an apprenticeship here, Silra—you'd be binding your soul to darkness." Jeane's smile didn't falter, but something flickered in her expression—frustration? Amusement? The demon had underestimated these mortals' loyalty and their ability to see through her seductive facade.

"Oh come on now," the succubus purred, leaning past Halie's protective form with an ease that spoke of long practice, "I'm not asking for your firstborn or anything dramatic. Just... a little mutual arrangement." Her wings shifted restlessly behind her as she addressed Silra directly, voice dropping to a husky whisper meant only for their ears. "You're curious about magic that doesn't come from books or bottles, aren't you? I can show you things beyond your wildest imagination—enhanced senses, accelerated healing, magical perception that would make your technomancy look like child's play."

Silra stepped around Halie's protective stance—not pushing her away, but not allowing herself to be shielded either—and faced Jeane directly. "Let me be clear: I'm not signing any contracts tonight," she said, her eyes meeting the succubus's with cool assessment instead of seduction or fear. "But you're right about one thing—I am curious about magic, especially yours." Her gaze flickered briefly to the doll demon still grinding against Abby's face, using that as an excuse to look away from Jeane's intense stare...
