Round 32

Phase: escalating

The room’s atmosphere shifted subtly—an electric tingle that raised the hairs on her arms. She felt it first, a familiar prelude to magical interference. Her eyes snapped to the source: Abby, standing frozen mid-sentence, and now—a tiny demonic figure perched casually on her shoulder like a living ornament. It was nude save for its joints, an obscene little doll come to life, and its lips were moving close to her ear.
Jeane turned with predatory grace, her wings settling against her back in one fluid motion that drew every eye. She fixed Hera with a look that was almost warm—until you noticed the iron beneath the surface. “Hera,” she purred, voice carrying across the charged air, “always the caretaker.” Her gaze flicked dismissively toward Silra before returning to the civilian woman. “But you misunderstand, darling girl. Silra doesn’t need protection—from me or anyone else.”
Silra took a deliberate step back, hands raised in a universal gesture of peace that somehow managed to look defensive rather than submissive. Her eyes were wide but calculating as they tracked the demonic interloper. “Abby,” she called out, voice tight with concern, “are you alright? What did it just whisper to you?” She shifted her attention back to Jeane, and now there was an edge in her tone. “Binding,” she repeated, sharper this time. “You’ve been talking in circles about ‘power’ and ‘connection’. That’s vague enough to be deliberate. I need specifics before I consider—”
The air crackled again, and suddenly the tiny demon had relocated from Abby’s shoulder to her breasts, manipulating her flesh with obscene precision while presenting its own minuscule genitalia for display. Its voice carried clearly: “Oh Abby, won’t you please have a taste of my tight little honey hole?”
She surged forward instinctively, hand raised in benediction, positioning herself between Silra and the grotesque tableau. “Silra,” she commanded, eyes fixed on the demonic creature, “whatever it offers you, whatever it promises—demons trade in broken contracts and hidden costs. Trust in what you know.” She glanced sideways at Hera—a silent order—and she moved to flank her, both of them forming a barrier between their friend and the creature’s influence.
“Jeane,” she said next, voice cold with warning, “your kind thrives on division and deception. Don’t think we’ll let you exploit our friend while we’re distracted by..." Her gaze flicked contemptuously toward the tiny demon still molesting poor Abby. "...lesser demons.”
