The bathroom fills with water and dread in equal measure. The wardstone outside answers their presence with a pulse that makes the very foundation groan—the building is alive with decay now, complaining in splintering timber and tearing metal. Silra meets Jeane's eyes across the small space, sees her own rising panic reflected there. This isn't the time for hesitation or moral debate. The stone must move, or they all die here together.

Jeane grabs Hera by the shoulders, spins the terrified woman to face her fully. "Listen." Her voice cuts through the ambient fear like a knife—cold, sharp, demanding attention. The wardstone pulses again, its energy bleeding through the walls and floorboards in sickening waves that make her skin crawl. She fights the urge to vomit or scream or both. "You're not going to die here because of me." The building overhead groans like a dying thing, but Jeane doesn't flinch—she's heard worse sounds in deeper hells than this luxury prison.

Silra is already moving, lockpicks in hand and eyes fixed on the wardstone. She can feel the wrongness radiating from it like heat from an open furnace, thick and choking. Every moment they waste arguing or hesitating is another moment the building comes closer to collapse. The water laps at her ankles now, cold and rising. She doesn't have time to care about ruined shoes or wet feet—survival comes first.

Hera stands there shaking, torn between fear and confusion. Jeane's grip on her shoulders is iron-clad, unyielding. The wardstone pulses again, sending fresh waves of terror through the small room. Abby presses close behind her, offering what comfort she can in this nightmare scenario. The water from the broken shower stall is already ankle-deep and rising fast—soon it will soak everything in here. Jeane's voice cuts through her panic like a whipcrack. "Do not die because of me." The building overhead groans again, louder this time—a sound of straining wood and tearing metal. They have minutes at best before the whole structure comes down.

The three women exchange glances heavy with unspoken understanding. There is no easy solution here, no safe path—they are trapped between a collapsing building and a wardstone that wants to consume them all. But they also understand that hesitation means death, and sometimes the only choice is to gamble on the lesser evil. Silra moves toward the wardstone with grim determination, lockpicks ready. Jeane watches her go, fists clenched at her sides—she trusts the elf's skill but fears what might be awakened by tampering with such ancient power.

Hera takes a deep breath and nods. "Let's do this before we drown or the building falls in on us." Her voice is steadier than she feels, but that's enough for now—they don't have time for fear right now, only action. The water laps higher around their ankles as they prepare to confront the wardstone together.
