Round 29

Phase: escalating

The building groaned again, a low sound like a dying beast protesting its own decay. The wardstone pulsed in time with it, green light throbbing through the room like a sick heartbeat. Fear was sharp and cold in my gut—this wasn't just creepy anymore, this was actively dangerous.
Jeane stood near the stone, her crimson eyes fixed on it with a mix of arousal and genuine alarm. "It's getting worse," she said, voice tight. "I've felt things like this before—they don't stop until they get what they want. And right now, what that thing wants is..." She trailed off, glancing at Hera and Abby with obvious discomfort.
Silra moved closer to the wardstone, her teal eyes narrowed in concentration. As a technomancer, she was probably running dozens of calculations in her head—structural integrity timelines, energy signatures, whatever the hell was going on with that damn stone. "We have maybe minutes before this building comes down," she said flatly. "The ward's pulse is accelerating. Whatever we're going to do about this...we need to do it now."
The stone pulsed again, harder this time. The entire suite seemed to shudder around us. Hera let out a small sound of pure terror, her amber eyes wide. "Do what? What the fuck does that mean?" She looked from Silra to Jeane and back, panic clear in her voice.
Abby was pressed against the wall by the door, looking like she wanted to disappear into it. Her brown eyes were fixed on the wardstone with morbid fascination mixed with genuine fear. "What happens if we don't...do whatever?" she asked softly.
Silra's expression didn't change, but there was something in her posture—a kind of fierce determination that made my stomach flip for reasons entirely unrelated to the imminent structural collapse. "The ward wants energy," she said, voice cool and clinical despite the situation. "Sexual energy, specifically. The more intense, the better. It's feeding on it—on us—and now that we've woken it up properly, it needs a constant supply or it'll take what it wants from the building itself."
Jeane nodded, her wings shifting slightly as if for balance. "She's right," she confirmed, looking at Hera and Abby with something like apology in her expression. "I've seen this before—entities that feed on lust and arousal. They're not picky about how they get it, but they do need a steady stream or they get...hungry."
The wardstone pulsed again, harder still. The glass wall behind it cracked audibly, a spiderweb of fractures spreading out from the point of impact. We all jumped back except Silra, who barely reacted. "See?" she said calmly. "It's not asking anymore. It's taking what it wants—from the building itself. If we don't give it something better, something more controlled, it'll tear this place apart looking for it."
I felt a cold sweat break out on my skin. This was way beyond 'creepy' now—this was 'structural collapse and potential death.' And according to Silra and Jeane, the only thing that would stop it was us fucking each other's brains out right here in the middle of the suite? Yeah, no. Not happening.
Except...the stone pulsed again, even harder this time. Another crack spread across the glass wall, and a chunk actually fell free, plummeting down toward the street below with an ominous tinkling sound. We were literally running out of time here.
Silra turned to face us fully, her expression serious but with something else underneath—arousal, maybe? Or was that just my imagination, fueled by the situation? "Look," she said, voice low and intense. "I know this is fucked up. But we have two options: we can try to fight it or run away, and hope we can outlast whatever the hell this thing is before it collapses the building around us. Or we can give it what it wants—controlled, consensual energy—and maybe, just maybe, keep everyone alive."
The stone pulsed again, softer this time. Almost...satisfied? Was that even possible? I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache coming on. This was insane. Beyond insane, actually. But the alternative involved potentially dying in a spectacular high-rise collapse, which seemed even less appealing than the alternative Silra was suggesting.
Jeane spoke up next, her voice softer but no less determined. "She's right," she said, glancing at Hera and Abby with something like apology in her expression. "I've seen entities like this before—they're not malicious exactly, but they are...hungry. And once they get a taste of what they want, they don't stop until they're satisfied."
The stone pulsed again, harder still. Another chunk of glass fell from the wall, and I heard Hera let out a small, terrified sound. We were literally running out of time here.
