The building's wardstone answers their presence not with silence but with a fresh pulse, and everyone present knows this is no longer an academic exercise. The air shifts, charged with both fear and something else—an excitement that borders on the perverse. Abby presses herself against the wall, her wide brown eyes fixed on Jeane as she approaches Silra, while Hera stands nearby, her amber gaze shifting between the two women and the groaning structure around them.

Jeane's fingers trail along Silra's shoulder, a gesture both intimate and concerned. The wardstone pulses faster in response, and the building emits a sound like a dying beast—a long, low groan that seems to vibrate through the very floorboards. "Talk to me," Jeane says, her voice steady but with an undercurrent of worry visible only to those who know her well. She glances around at the other women present—Hera looking confused and alarmed, Halie watching with a stern expression already forming.

Silra closes her eyes, placing both hands on the wardstone's surface as if trying to absorb its very essence. The stone pulses in sync with her breathing now, each beat making the building groan louder than the last. She opens her eyes, teal irises sharp and focused. "It's not just reacting," she says, voice low and intense. "It's... alive? Conscious? I don't know. But every time someone moves, every time the air shifts, it responds." She pulls out a small device—a seismic sensor—and shows them the readout: a graph spiking with each pulse of the wardstone.

Hera takes an involuntary step forward, her practical nature warring with the sheer strangeness of what they're witnessing. "Silra," she says, trying to keep her voice level despite the growing sense of unease, "what exactly are we dealing with here?" The building shudders again around them, the wardstone's pulse ominously steady now.

Halie moves between Silra and Hera, her expression grave. The groan from the structure is louder this time—louder than any sound it's made since they arrived. We can't risk this structure collapsing around us while we... experiment. She looks at each woman in turn, taking in their reactions: Jeane calculating, Silra focused on the wardstone data, Hera clearly out of her depth. "Stop," she says with quiet authority that carries far more weight than mere volume. "This isn't just about our pleasure anymore."
