The room's darkness felt almost physical as it pressed in around them, thick and suffocating. The oppressive weight of the shadows seemed to press in from all sides, while its malevolent presence grew more tangible with each passing second. Jeane’s wings beat slowly in agitation, her faint glow the sole other source of light in the stifling gloom. “Enough of your games,” she hissed into the darkness, her voice cold and defiant despite the obvious strain in her tone. “You want me to understand myself? Then show yourself as you truly are—stop hiding behind this stolen form.” Her power responded to her call, magic crackling along her skin in visible arcs that fought against the encroaching shadows.

Halie stepped forward boldly—or perhaps recklessly—the weak light from her symbol casting stark shadows across her determined features. “Enough posturing,” she replied, her voice steady despite the obvious fear lurking beneath its surface. “You claim to offer wisdom and understanding? Then…” Silra watched the room go dark, her hand instinctively moving to the small of her back where she kept her concealed weapon. The sudden shift from artificial light to utter darkness set her teeth on edge—she’d spent too many years operating in shadows to ever feel comfortable when they closed around her without warning.

“Well, shit,” she muttered, more to herself than anyone else. “So not only are we being spied on—we’re also starring in some kind of twisted reality show?” She scoffed, her teal eyes scanning the screen with practiced disdain. “I didn’t come here to be a performer in someone else’s sick fantasy.” To Halie: “Keep that symbol glowing—I need light if I’m going to do this right.” Silra moved closer to the display, pulling out a small device from her pocket—a handheld scanner designed to detect hidden electronic signatures. She swept it across the wall where she’d seen the camera appear moments earlier, her expression grim as the device immediately began picking up multiple signals.

“Fuck,” she said softly. “There’s at least half a dozen devices in here—probably more that I can’t detect from this angle.” The demon’s laughter echoed through the darkness once more, seeming to come from everywhere and nowhere at once. “Oh yes, little ones—you’ve only begun to scratch the surface of what lies hidden here. But fear not—I’ll help you find everything… for a price, of course.”
