Round 5

As Jeane carefully descended the stairs, her poker held at the ready, the deliberate creaking sound from below grew clearer. The brief flash of a beam from downstairs seemed to originate from a light source, and she paused at the bottom, her eyes scanning the dark space. The air was heavy with dust and something else, a lingering scent that didn't quite fit.

The Force moved through the front sitting room with purpose, her footsteps barely audible on the hardwood floor. She cast a weak circle of light from the brass lamp, but it failed to reach the corners, leaving the shadows deep and unfathomable. Her gaze swept the space, taking in the upholstered chair, side table, and cold stone fireplace, each object seeming to hold secrets in the darkness.
