Round 9

Outside, rain drummed against the windows like a relentless heartbeat, its rhythmic beat echoing through the deserted streets. The house stood dark and still, a silent sentinel guarding its secrets within. In the kitchen, a drawer creaked open with a slow, deliberate motion, the sound like a whispered secret. Jeane's gaze snapped towards the noise, her heart racing with anticipation. She gripped the iron poker tightly, knuckles aching from the tight grip. Behind her, through the hallway leading to the kitchen, came the sound of something large sliding open—drawer after drawer, slow and deliberate. Jeane's mind flashed to the intruder, her thoughts racing with fear and adrenaline. The Force moved into view, her flashlight beam sweeping the floor for any sign of movement.
