At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.

Seraphine · Wizard

I stand at the base of the crumbling stone tower, my heart hammering against my ribs like a trapped bird. The air here is thick with an ancient, malevolent energy that prickles along my skin, raising gooseflesh despite the summer heat. I can feel the wards humming through the ground, their frantic pulse sending waves of wrongness up my legs.
Jeane's words about what's upstairs send a fresh wave of icy dread down my spine. Something is coming. Something deliberate, and it's not mindless bone. The question isn't if we should accelerate our entry; it's whether we have any choice left at all.
I turn to Merrin, my voice strained but clear. "Whatever you saw through that window, tell us now. We need to know what we're facing before we commit to going inside." My eyes dart towards the dark archway of the main entrance, where shadows seem to writhe with a life of their own.
My mind races, trying to piece together the little I know about this place from my studies. A tower built by an order of wizards who delved too deep into forbidden magic. An artifact created, then lost. And now... whatever this predatory magic has become. We came here seeking power, but now all I can think about is survival.
I square my shoulders, drawing strength from the cool weight of my staff in my hand. The silver inlay glints dully in the fading light. If we're going to die here, let it be fighting.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I've mapped the ward-stones' pattern across the first fifty feet—frantic pulses feeding something upstairs. We have maybe two minutes before whatever's chained up there decides we're not just accidental tourists. Merrin, what did you see through that window? Shape? Movement? Tell me exactly what the thing looks like before it gets close enough to introduce itself personally.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I squint up at the window, trying to make out the shape of whatever is approaching. "It's... wrong. Too big to be human, moving in a way that doesn't look natural." I swallow hard, my mouth suddenly dry. "Whatever it is, it's not friendly. We need to move now, before it decides to come down here."
