At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I stand in the crumbling archway of the ancient tower, the heavy weight of my pack pressing down on my shoulders as I stare at the ominous darkness beyond.
The air here is thick with a malevolent presence, a predatory hunger that seems to seep from the very stones themselves. It’s a feeling I know all too well—the touch of eldritch magic, twisted and corrupted by some unnatural force. My fingers trace the intricate patterns on my spellbook, a nervous habit born of long nights spent poring over forbidden tomes. I can almost hear the wards humming, their power pulsing with an unsettling rhythm. They aren’t just defenses—they’re feeding something inside. And whatever they’re feeding on is now very aware of our presence.
I take a deep breath, steeling myself. This isn’t the time for hesitation. The others are depending on me, and we have little time before whatever is upstairs decides how to respond to our intrusion.
"Jeane, Merrin," I call out, my voice a low murmur that barely carries over the wind. "We need to move now if we're going to get in and out before it realizes what's happening."
I turn to Halie, my expression grave. "Halie, can you sense anything more about what’s chained to that altar? Is it... alive?"
My gaze sweeps over the party, a silent plea for confirmation of our plan. We came here seeking power, but I fear we may have awakened something far beyond our control. The tower looms before us, a prison wearing a crown of night, and within its walls, an ancient entity stirs.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I remain on the roof, mapping the ward patterns by touch, feeling the pulsing malevolence beneath my fingertips like a second heartbeat. The hunger isn't passive—it's active, predatory, drawing power from something trapped below us in the structure. This isn't just an ancient trap, girls. I call down to where Halie and Seraphine wait on the ground with their defensive spells ready. These wards are actively feeding. Whatever's chained to that altar downstairs isn't some forgotten guardian—they're keeping it alive for this purpose.

The hunger pulses again, stronger now. We have maybe ten minutes before whatever's inside realizes we've woken its food source. Merrin, Varrika—if you're going in, you need to move fast and quiet. Find the sword, get out. Don't engage anything else unless absolutely necessary. Seraphine, your firepower is our insurance policy—don't waste it on skeletons or whatever's clattering around down there. I trace another ward line with my mind, feeling its teeth. And if you hear me scream, that's your cue to light this whole cursed place up and run like hell. Time limit: ten minutes. Tick-tock, ladies.

I finish the map in my head—we've got a narrow path through the wards on the south side of the ground floor, but it's risky as hell. The hunger pulses again, and I swear I can hear something shift its weight inside the tower. Time's up, one way or another. Move now, or back out while we're still mostly undetected. But know this—I'm not dying in here to feed some ancient asshole's pet project.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

I grip my crowbar tightly, senses on high alert as I scan the tower's interior for traps and hidden dangers. The air is thick with an unsettling energy, a malevolent presence that seems to seep from the very stones themselves. "Alright Varrika, let's move fast and quiet," I murmur to the dwarf beside me. "Find that sword, grab it, and get out before whatever's upstairs notices we've woken up the wards."

I step forward cautiously, my boots making barely a sound on the ancient flagstones. The shadows seem to twist and writhe at the edges of my vision, and I resist the urge to shiver. There's no time for fear—only quick, precise action. "Keep your eyes peeled," I whisper as we creep deeper into the tower's embrace. "I've got a feeling we're not alone in here...and whatever else is lurking in these halls, it's hungry."
