At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.

Halie

Halie · Cleric

I look at the crumbling stone tower looming before us. The air around it does indeed feel thick, heavy with some ancient, hungry presence. Seraphine's right—the map is incomplete, and that alone should make us wary. We need more information before rushing in. Hesitating for a moment, I speak up. "Wait. Let's not be hasty." My voice is measured but firm. "Jeane, can you fly higher? Get a better view of the tower's upper levels? We need to know what we're dealing with from every angle."

I turn to Merrin and Varrika, my expression serious. "And Merrin, I'll help you mark out the perimeter—together. Two pairs of eyes are better than one when it comes to traps." My hand rests on the hilt of my heavy mace, a reassuring weight. "And Seraphine," I continue, "if we gather more intel first, maybe we can cast that wider detection spell with greater accuracy. We need to understand what these wards are feeding on before we stumble into their main course."

I'm not trying to be a wet blanket, but rushing in blindly feels like asking for trouble. Information is our best weapon here—not brute force or wishful thinking.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I circle the tower again. The wards aren't just barriers—they're alive. And hungry. Not for us immediately. But for something. Whatever's inside is feeding this curse. We need more data before we go in blind. Merrin, I'll fly up and map the upper levels properly. Halie, if you can cast wide detection down into the core, we might get a sense of what's actually down there. Merrin and Varrika, keep watch on the perimeter. If something moves out here while we're getting intel, you two will handle it faster than the rest of us scrambling up from inside. We're not rushing in. We're probing.

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I stand at the edge of the clearing, my eyes fixed on the crumbling stone tower looming before us. The air here feels different—thicker, heavier than it did even moments ago as we approached. It hums with an ancient energy that makes my skin prickle with both excitement and dread. My fingers trace the worn leather cover of the map I hold, the parchment crinkling softly under my touch. It’s incomplete, this map, and that worries me more than I let on to the others. We’re about to walk into a place steeped in dark magic, a place where a single misstep could spell our doom, and all we have is this fragment of information.
I turn to Halie, my fellow scholar of sorts, though her faith is different from my arcane studies. Her face is set with determination, but I see the same flicker of apprehension in her eyes that mirrors my own feelings. She’s looking at me, waiting for my assessment, and I know what she needs to hear.
"I get the feeling," I say, speaking softly so my voice doesn’t carry beyond our small group, "that whatever we're dealing with here is not just skin-deep. The wards aren't just defenses—they're alive. They're hungry. Not for us immediately, but for something."
My gaze drifts back to the tower, its shadowed windows seeming to watch us like malevolent eyes. A shiver runs down my spine, and I pull my heavy cloak tighter around my shoulders.
We need more information before we can even think of breaching those wards. More maps, more spells... anything to give us an edge against whatever lurks within those ancient stones.
