At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.

I circle the base of the tower slowly, trailing fingers along the rough stone. The wards here aren't just defenses—they're alive. I can feel it: they're hungry. Not for us immediately, but for something. Something inside these walls is feeding them, keeping them strong and active centuries after their masters are dust. I glance at Merrin, then Seraphine. "These wards aren't passive magic. They're being actively sustained by whatever's in there. Whatever we find inside that tower? It's been nourishing this curse for years." I pause, feeling the stone pulse faintly under my palm. "And whoever—or whatever—created these things... they might still be around."

I turn to Halie. "Can you detect what's feeding them? Is it just ambient dark energy or is there a specific source inside?"

Seraphine

Seraphine · Wizard

I finish my incantation, the runes on the stone ground flaring a soft blue before fading.
"The map is... incomplete. We need more." My eyes scan over the ancient scroll, tracing the lines of faded ink, seeking anything we might have missed. "Halie, can you cast a wider detection spell? Not just for the perimeter, but deep inside the structure too. I get the feeling that whatever we're dealing with here is not just skin-deep."
I look up from the map, my gaze meeting Halie's. There's a shared understanding of the gravity of the situation in our eyes.
The air around us seems to thicken as if the very walls are listening, waiting for our next move. I can almost feel the hunger radiating off the tower's stone, a predatory presence that makes my skin crawl.
