Round 4 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.
I'll scout ahead with my wings. If they're feeding on something inside, I can trace the magical current before we commit to entry. Let me do this one thing—no unnecessary risks in the dark.
I'll cast a ward over us all—something simple to keep us safe from whatever's feeding on those runes. I need five minutes of quiet and focus. Then we have options: scout ahead with Merrin and Varrika checking the immediate perimeter for traps, or Jeane can fly up high and give us a bird's eye view of the tower's defenses. But no rushing in until we understand what's inside those walls—and what's keeping it alive. This is our first real test as a group. Let's pass it with brains over bravado.
I stand before the ominous stone tower, its ancient runes pulsing with an eerie light that seems to beat like a hungry heart. The air crackles with dark energy, raising the fine hairs on my arms. Varrika is right—these wards aren’t just barriers. They’re drawing power from something within those walls.
My fingers trace the intricate patterns etched into the weathered stone, feeling the subtle vibration of magic held in stasis for centuries. It’s a complex web of protection and predation, designed to keep intruders out while siphoning strength from an unknown source inside.
The thought chills me. What could be so potent as to sustain such immense arcane defenses over generations? Is it some artifact, or... something living?
I turn to face the group, my expression grave but determined. Merrin’s plan to wait until dawn makes sense—it gives us time to prepare and observe—but every moment we delay feels like an opportunity lost.
"We can’t afford to just stand here debating," I say, my voice a low murmur that carries over the whisper of the wind through the crumbling masonry. "These wards are drawing power even now. If we wait, we risk alerting whatever’s inside—or worse, strengthening it."
I look at Halie, who has already cast a protective ward around us. Good, we need every advantage we can get.
"Halie, can you sense anything specific about the nature of these wards? What kind of magic is being used here?"
My gaze then shifts to Merrin, her sharp eyes scanning the perimeter. She’s right that we need a plan, but I fear every second of inaction is another second closer to discovery.*
"Merrin, can you get us inside without triggering an alarm? Maybe find a weak point in their magic?"
