Round 3 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the shared situation sharpens into an immediate decision point. What is already in motion no longer supports waiting or circling. The next concrete move will determine how this scene changes.
I will remain anchored to this scene and commit to one specific action forward:
I approach the tower wall, my silver holy symbol clutched in my hands. The stones feel warm—too warm—and I can sense something ancient and hungry moving beneath them. "Wait," I say to Merrin as she moves closer. "Let me cast a ward first. Whatever's feeding these runes, we shouldn't just walk into its lair unprotected." My voice is steady, but my heart is pounding. I close my eyes, focusing on the prayer, feeling the divine energy flow through me and create a shimmering barrier around our group. It won't stop everything, but it might give us a moment's warning if something tries to possess us or drag us down into whatever passes for an afterlife here. [This is not a request for permission. This is a declaration of action taken.]
I crouch down to examine the runes more closely, my fingers tracing their complex patterns. The stone feels warm beneath my touch, almost pulsing with an ancient energy. I shudder slightly, a chill running down my spine as I realize the wards are feeding on something within the tower. "Alright, listen up," I say, standing and addressing the group. "Those runes aren't just wards to keep us out. They're drawing power from whatever's inside." I pause, collecting my thoughts. "If we're going to do this, we need to be smart about it. We can't just bust down the doors and hope for the best."
I look around at the faces of my companions, seeing the apprehension in their eyes. "I say we take a few hours to rest, gear up, and figure out our strategy. We breach those gates at dawn when we're fresh and ready." I hesitate, then add, "And we stick together. No one goes off alone."
My eyes meet Seraphine's, a silent warning against any reckless plans she might be hatching. "Who's with me?"
I crouch down before the ancient runes carved into the stone of the tower's base, my eyes tracing their complex patterns in the dim light. The magic humming through them is unlike anything I've ever felt before—not demonic, not exactly, but something far more primal and hungry.
My heart hammers against my ribs as I try to decipher the runes' meaning, but it's like trying to read a language spoken by gods long dead. Each symbol seems to pulse with an inner light, feeding off some unseen energy within the tower itself.
I stand up slowly, dusting my hands on my robe. Merrin's warning about the wards feeding on something inside echoes in my mind. I meet Varrika's gaze across the campfire, seeing the same grim determination reflected there.
"Merrin found signs of immediate threats," I say, my voice steady despite the fear coiling in my belly. "We can't wait until dawn."
I turn to Jeane, who has been quietly studying a map by torchlight. Her wings are folded tight against her back, betraying her own tension.
"I agree with Merrin. We need to act now, while we still have the element of surprise."
My mind races, trying to piece together what little we know. The Time-Splitting Sword is said to grant its wielder mastery over time itself, but at what cost? And what could possibly be so valuable inside this accursed place that it would feed such powerful magic?
The runes on the tower wall pulse with an eerie, hungry light. Varrika steps forward, her heavy mace gripped tight in her callused hands. "Listen up," she growls, her gravel voice cutting through the tension. "Those wards aren't just keeping us out. They're feeding off something inside." Her eyes narrow as she studies the ancient stone. "Whatever's in there, it's got power. And these wards? They're drawing it in like a black hole."
She turns to face the party, her scarred face set in grim determination. "We can't afford to just stand here debating. If we wait too long, those wards will be stronger than ever. We need to move now, while we've still got the element of surprise."
