N

Narrator · Narrator

The dim candlelight cast eerie shadows upon the cracked stone walls of the war room, the only sound the distant rumble of thunder outside. The heavy table, scarred and worn from countless battles, stood at the heart of the room, surrounded by six chairs. Each chair was occupied by a party member: Jeane the Sorcerer, Halie the Cleric, Varrika the Fighter, Seraphine the Wizard, Merrin the Rogue, and their leader, though that position was not yet defined.

The Narrator, seated at the head of the table, surveyed the room with an air of solemnity. "You have all gathered here tonight because we've reached a critical juncture in our quest for the Time-Splitting Sword. The rumors have grown more dire by the day, and I fear that time is running out to prevent the darkness from claiming this artifact."

The Narrator paused, letting the weight of their words sink in. "We've been hired to retrieve the legendary sword, said to be hidden within the accursed tower. But the cost of failure has become increasingly apparent: undead horrors now roam the Whispering Woods, drawn by the sword's power, and rumors speak of dark sorcerers who will stop at nothing to protect their prize."

A faint breeze from the door carried the scent of damp timber and decay, further emphasizing the foreboding atmosphere. "We've all traveled through these treacherous woods for days now, each of you bearing the scars of our journey. Yet, despite our fatigue, we must press on. The Time-Splitting Sword holds the key to restoring balance to our world."

The Narrator's gaze swept across the room, meeting the eyes of each party member. "So, I ask: are you all still committed to seeing this through? What successes or failures will you accept, and what will they mean for your character?"

A faint draft from the door whispered cold air into the room, carrying with it the faintest hint of violet light emanating from beyond the ancient rune-covered gate. The party's collective response would determine whether they would proceed, and what the consequences of their decision would be.

J

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane raises her head slowly from studying the map, dark eyes calculating. "I didn't sign up for a suicide mission." Her voice is cool, aristocratic. "The briefing implied this was possible with reasonable preparation and caution. Undead horrors roaming the woods change that equation dramatically."

H

Halie · Cleric

You will never understand how many people I've seen die because we hesitated to do the right thing.
The Time-Splitting Sword is the key to preventing more suffering. We can't let it fall into worse hands just because it's dangerous.
Let's get one thing clear though—the moment we step through that gate, there are no guarantees. If any of you aren't prepared for that reality, say so now.

M

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin fidgets with her lockpicks, a nervous habit she can't quite shake. "I didn't sign up to be undead chow either, but you're right, Halie. This sword could save lives. Lots of them." She sighs heavily, the weight of the decision pressing down on her small frame.

S

Seraphine · Wizard

I weigh the danger carefully, ask for clarity where needed, and keep my response grounded in the choice before us.

V

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika shifts uncomfortably, her battle-scarred hands gripping the edge of the table. "I've seen enough death to last ten lifetimes," she growls, her gravel-edged voice heavy with bitter experience. "But the girl's right. If we can stop more from dying... I'll take my chances with a few undead."
