Round 10 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now Skeletons: Undead remnants of the tower's original defenders, now animated by dark magic to endlessly guard their ancient home.. Someone has to answer that change now.
I see them now - not just bone-stupid undead flailing about, but coordinated. Someone's hand is on their strings still. Dark magic fresh enough to make my skin crawl. Staying together is our best defense. Merrin, keep that crossbow up and ready for any commander showing itself. Varrika, if the skeletons charge, hold the line - we need your hammer work centered. Halie, that holy symbol of yours might actually do something here; keep it raised high, visible, and active. I'll mark patterns, watch for command signals in their movement. If there's a dark caster puppeteering these bone-men, I want to know where they're hiding before we commit too far in. Move out slow but steady. Stay close enough that if one of us screams, another can hear it and respond. This tower has already claimed lives; I don't intend for ours to be the next set on its tally. Something old and hungry sleeps deeper inside. Let's find out what woke it up before we stumble into breakfast.
My grip tightens on the crossbow as the ward pulses with fresh, malevolent power. The skeletons shift in response, their movements coordinated like soldiers on a battlefield rather than the mindless undead we expected. "Keep your eyes peeled," I mutter to Varrika and Halie. "Something's got these bones riled up."
I squint into the shadows of the tower entrance, trying to catch any hint of the dark magic source powering our uninvited welcoming party. The air reeks of decay and wrongness, and my skin crawls with the sensation of being watched by ancient, malevolent eyes. "Alright ladies," I say, trying to keep my voice steady despite the dread coiling in my gut. "Let's see what this place has got in store for us. But stay sharp - I've got a feeling we're not going to like what we find."
I tighten my grip on the heavy mace, feeling the familiar weight of cold metal in my scarred hands. The ward's pulse feels like a heartbeat against my skin, a reminder that whatever dark magic animates these bones is still alive and hungry. "Stay sharp," I growl to the others, my voice gravel-edged with warning. "These aren't mindless skeletons - there's something else at work here, something that doesn't want us trespassing."
I step forward, ready to face whatever horrors this accursed tower might throw at us. The Time-Splitting Sword is our goal, but getting to it won't be easy. I've faced undead before, but never with this kind of coordination, this purpose. "Merrin, keep your crossbow ready. Halie, keep that holy symbol raised - we'll need all the protection we can get." I nod to Jeane. "You watch for any patterns, any signs of command. If we can figure out what's controlling these things, we might stand a chance."
I take another step, feeling the weight of the tower bearing down on us like a tomb. The air is thick with ancient power, with the promise of violence and death. But I've faced worse in my years as a sellsword. "Alright, ladies," I say, my voice grim but determined. "Let's see what this place has got in store for us."
With that, I lead the way into the tower, my mace at the ready. Whatever horrors lie ahead, we'll face them together.
