Round 9 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

At The base of a crumbling stone tower, the pressure shifts from waiting to immediate risk. The ward answers the party's presence with a fresh pulse through the stone and no one can mistake it for safety. The nearest sign of danger is now Skeletons: Undead remnants of the tower's original defenders, now animated by dark magic to endlessly guard their ancient home.. Someone has to answer that change now.
I can taste it—fresh dark magic seeping into these bones like poison in blood. They're not shambling undead, they're directed. See how their movements align? That's command structure, not decayed instinct. Merrin, stop gawking and mark their patterns properly. I need to know if we're facing tactical coordination or just puppets on strings before I commit power. Halie—keep that symbol raised but don't waste divine energy yet unless teeth start sprouting. Varrika's mace hand is steady at least. This is the wrong kind of magic for my usual tricks, but I've got something that might disrupt whatever's animating them if they get too close. Stay in formation, watch each other's backs, and don't let fear make you stupid. We're not here to sightsee or make friends with the local undead real estate. We move on my mark. Get ready to shift from recon to combat if they charge.
I keep my crossbow trained on the skeletons as they shift and turn in unnatural patterns. The air feels heavy, thick with some ancient power I can't quite name. Jeane's right - there's a purpose to their movements, a coordination that speaks of dark magic at work. My fingers tighten on the crossbow, sweat slicking my palms despite the chill in the air. We're outnumbered, and I don't know what other traps or tricks this tower might have in store. But we've come this far - there's no turning back now. I glance at Halie, her holy symbol raised like a beacon against the darkness. She meets my gaze, a grim determination in her eyes. We're in this together, for good or ill. Taking a deep breath, I call out to the others. "Alright, ladies, let's go see what this tower has in store for us. Stay sharp and watch each other's backs."
And with that, I step forward, crossbow at the ready, into the yawning mouth of the tower. The shadows seem to whisper and shift around us, but I don't let my aim waver. Whatever horrors lie ahead, we'll face them together.
I feel it in my bones - this tower is no tomb, but a fortress still. The skeletons move with purpose, like soldiers still following orders. We cannot afford to underestimate them. Varrika hefts her heavy mace, muscles tensing with the weight of it. She scans the entrance, eyes narrowed against the gloom. "Stay sharp," she grunts to her companions. "Those things may look fragile, but they're animated by dark magic. It'll take a solid blow to put them down for good."
She takes a step forward, boots scuffing against the ancient flagstones. The air feels heavy, thick with some ancient power she can't quite name. It prickles at her skin, raising the hairs on her arms. "Merrin, keep your crossbow ready," Varrika commands, voice gruff but steady. "Halie, keep that holy symbol of yours raised high. Might be our best defense against whatever foul magic is at work here."
She pauses, jaw clenched tight as she considers their next move. The tower looms ahead, its stones crumbling but its purpose clear. They've come too far to turn back now. "Alright," Varrika says finally, steel in her voice. "Let's move out. But stay sharp. We don't know what else this tower might be hiding."
She takes another step forward, mace at the ready, eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. The skeletons remain still for now, but she knows it won't last. They're here to retrieve the Time-Splitting Sword, and they won't leave empty-handed. No matter what horrors the tower might hold.
