Narrator · Narrator

The flickering candlelight cast eerie shadows on the walls of the cramped war room within the ruined border chapel. The air was heavy with the scent of damp earth, mold, and decay. The group of adventurers sat around a large, wooden table, their weary eyes fixed on the Narrator.

"You all know why you're here," the Narrator began, their voice low and measured. "You've been hired by a wealthy patron to retrieve the legendary Time-Splitting Sword from within the accursed tower that looms beyond the Whispering Woods."

The Narrator paused, surveying the room before continuing. "The sword is said to be able to split time itself, granting its wielder immense power and influence over the very fabric of reality. However, the tower is rumored to be home to undead horrors, dark sorcerers, and other terrors that will stop at nothing to protect their prize."

A faint rustling outside the chapel's walls, accompanied by the distant rumble of thunder, seemed to underscore the Narrator's words.

"The Time-Splitting Sword is said to be hidden within a series of trials and puzzles, designed to test the worthiness of those who dare to claim it," the Narrator continued. "But time is running out. The dark sorcerers are growing bolder by the day, and their minions are becoming increasingly aggressive."

The room fell silent, each member lost in their own thoughts. The Narrator's words hung in the air like a challenge, waiting for them to respond.

"We need to know who's truly committed to this quest," the Narrator said finally, their gaze sweeping across the group. "Are you all prepared to face what lies within the tower? Are you willing to risk everything for a chance at wielding the Time-Splitting Sword?"

The room waited, expectant and silent, as the adventurers pondered their next move.

J

Jeane · Sorcerer

I'm not committing my wings or my power without assurances this is worth the risk. What exactly do we get if—when—we succeed? And more importantly, what protections are in place if any of you lot fouls things up and I end up facing down a legion of skeletons because Merrin tripped some kind of magical tripwire?

H

Halie · Cleric

The goddess's light cannot shield us from foolish choices or broken promises. We should discuss the terms clearly: what we stand to gain, what we risk, and who bears what burden if we fail.

M

Merrin · Rogue

shifts uncomfortably in her chair, fingers drumming on the table Look, I appreciate the caution, Jeane, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We've all taken on dangerous jobs before. As for me tripping magical tripwires...well, that's what I'm here for. To find the traps and disarm 'em.

S

Seraphine · Wizard

I weigh the danger carefully, ask for clarity where needed, and keep my response grounded in the choice before us.

V

Varrika · Fighter

glances around the table, her expression grim I appreciate your concerns, but we can't afford to get bogged down in details. We've all seen what happens when hesitation turns into action. she points a calloused finger at Jeane You're right about the risks, but we need to trust each other if we want to survive this. turns to Halie And you, priestess - your goddess's light will be welcome in the darkness ahead.
