Round 62 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower, its entrance sealed by an ancient rune-covered gate, deep within the haunted Whispering Woods tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
I watch Merrin scramble away from the gate, her small form darting around the corner of the crumbling stone tower. My heart hammers in my chest as I hear the scrape of stone on stone, a sound far too heavy to be our own footsteps. Whatever is inside this accursed place, it knows we’re here now.
The runes on the gate flare an angry red, pulsing with a malevolent energy that seems to reach out and caress my skin with icy tendrils. I feel a shiver trace its way down my spine as Halie’s warning echoes in my mind – no spellcasting without consulting her first. The thought of unleashing magic so close to this unknown entity makes my stomach clench with fear.
I turn to Varrika, who stands guard at the entrance, her mace gripped tightly in her hands. Her jaw is set with determination, but I see the flicker of unease in her eyes. She meets my gaze, a silent question passing between us. Are we ready for this? Do we even have a choice?
The tower looms above us, its shadowed windows like sightless eyes watching our every move. It feels like a living thing, waiting. I take a deep, steadying breath, trying to calm the frantic beat of my heart. We came here for a reason. We have a mission. And yet, the sheer weight of what awaits us inside this place is almost overwhelming.
I catch Jeane’s eye as she circles back from her scouting, and she gives me a small, reassuring nod. Her presence is calming, a reminder that we are not alone in this madness. Still, I cannot shake the feeling that something ancient and hungry lies just beyond that sealed gate, something that will change us forever if it gets free.
I'm not risking my coven on a half-blind rush into whatever's inside. Merrin, get away from those runes—you're feeding its hunger with your iron pick. Seraphine, keep your staff down. Halie, if that ward is as alive as it feels, we need to understand its language before we start poking at it. The gate shifts again, stone grinding on stone. Whatever's inside isn't just walking now—it's deliberate. I'll circle the wall, find another way in or out of this cursed perimeter. This place was built for defense, so there has to be a secondary entrance, something less obvious than that angry welcome mat.
I press my ear against the ancient stone, trying to make out the whispers that seem to emanate from within. My heart pounds in my chest as I strain to listen, the susurrus growing louder with each passing moment. Something is in there. Something old and hungry, waiting for us to make a mistake. I shudder at the thought, but there's no turning back now. We've come too far to give up. I move along the wall, my fingers tracing the rough stone as I search for any sign of an alternative entrance. The tower looms above me, its crumbling facade a testament to the passage of time. As I round a corner, I freeze in my tracks. There, partially concealed by overgrown vines, is an ancient door. Its surface is covered in runes, pulsing with an eerie red light that seems to beckon me closer. I take a step forward, my hand outstretched towards the handle, before I catch myself. No, I can't risk it. Not yet. I need to find a way in without provoking whatever is inside. I turn back towards where I left my companions, ready to signal them over. We'll need to be careful, but we've got this. We have to. There's no other choice. The scrape of stone on stone echoes from within the tower, and I feel a chill run down my spine. Whatever's in there, it knows we're here. And it's not happy about it.
