Round 52 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower, its entrance sealed by an ancient rune-covered gate, deep within the haunted Whispering Woods tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
I take a careful step back from the gate, my eyes fixed on the pulsating runes that seem to writhe under our collective gaze. The air around us feels thick and heavy, charged with an ancient power that makes my skin prickle.
"The magic is alive," I murmur, my voice so low it's almost lost in the rustling leaves of the forest. "It's watching us, reacting to every movement, every sound."
My fingers twitch at my sides, wanting to reach for a spell component, but I resist the urge. The last thing we need right now is to feed whatever this entity is with more magical energy.
I turn my head slightly towards Halie, who is crouched by the gate, her eyes narrowed in concentration as she studies the complex patterns of the runes. Her holy symbol rests on the ground beside her, a small glint of silver in the dim light filtering through the trees.
"Halie," I call out softly, my tone urgent yet hushed. "What do you think it wants? What sustains its hunger?"
I map the runes from a safe distance—they pulse with every sound we make. Whatever this thing is, it's alive and hungry for arcane power, and I won't feed it my spells. Merrin, put those iron tools away before you set off something we can't stop. This isn't just a trap—it's a predator that feeds on magic. We need to understand what keeps it active once it's triggered. Varrika's right about the holy symbols; whatever this is, it might have weaknesses beyond our current understanding.
I step back from the gate, hands raised in placation, and ask about the ward's effectiveness. The runes seem to pulse hungrily as I withdraw my touch, like a predator sizing up its prey. I shiver involuntarily at the thought. Think that ward'll keep us safe if we manage to slip past it? I glance around at the others, trying to keep the tremor out of my voice. Anyone else get the feeling we're being watched?
