The flickering candles cast eerie shadows on the cracked stone walls of the ruined border chapel's war room as the five companions gathered around the heavy wooden table. The air was thick with the scent of damp timber and decay, the distant rumble of thunder echoing through the forest outside. Dripping water from the ceiling created a cold draft that sent shivers down their spines.

"This is why you're all here," the DM began, voice steady despite the ominous atmosphere. "The village priestess has entrusted us with retrieving the legendary Time-Splitting Sword from the accursed tower within the Whispering Woods. The sword's power to manipulate time itself makes it a prize worth any risk."

A chill ran through the air as the party's eyes met, each weighing the gravity of their task. The DM continued, "As you know, the tower is said to be guarded by undead horrors and dark sorcerers who will stop at nothing to protect their prize. We've heard rumors of ancient runes covering the gate, powerful magical wards that can only be bypassed with the right tools."

The party's gazes shifted to the map of the tower's ground floor, partially worn and rumored to be inaccurate. A silver holy symbol of the Goddess of Light sat on the edge of the table, a blessing given by the village priestess.

"The Time-Splitting Sword is said to be hidden within a chamber deep within the tower," the DM concluded. "To succeed, we must navigate the treacherous grounds, avoid or defeat the undead guardians, and face whatever dark sorcery lies ahead. We'll need all our skills and wits to overcome the challenges that await us."

The DM leaned back in their chair, eyes scanning the party. "Who among you is willing to take on this perilous quest?"

The room fell silent as the companions considered the proposal.

J

Jeane · Sorcerer

Jeane's lips curl into a dangerous smile as she traces the rim of her goblet with a long, slender finger. I am always eager for... opportunities that test one's power and cunning. But let us be quite clear about what we're being asked to do here.

H

Halie · Cleric

I lean forward, my hands clasped together on the table, a furrow in my brow. We are not merely thieves stealing a trinket from some noble's manor. The Time-Splitting Sword is a weapon of immense power—manipulating time itself? Such an artifact should not exist in mortal hands. The very idea that it could be used for... what? Personal gain? Political leverage? I shake my head slowly. This is dangerous beyond measure. We must consider the consequences of its misuse far more carefully than our coin purses.

M

Merrin · Rogue

I shift in my seat, my fingers drumming an anxious rhythm on the table. Look, I'm not one to shy away from danger. But this? I gesture at the map with a nod of my head. This is beyond anything we've taken on before. Undead guardians, dark sorcerers... and for what? Some mystical sword that can twist time itself? I shake my head, my voice dropping to a whisper. I don't know about you lot, but I'm not keen on poking around ancient curses and demonic entities. There's got to be more to this than just the usual 'retrieve the MacGuffin' quest.

S

Seraphine · Wizard

I listen intently, my sharp eyes fixed on the DM, processing every word. When they finish, I tap my fingers lightly against the worn stone of the table, a thoughtful gesture.
The Time-Splitting Sword is indeed a legendary artifact, one that has been whispered about in the arcane circles I frequent. The idea that such a powerful tool of temporal manipulation could be found here, guarded by ancient evils... I trail off, my mind racing with possibilities and dangers.
Merrin raises valid concerns about the scale of this undertaking. Undead guardians and dark sorcerers are no trivial foes. And as Halie points out, the potential misuse of such an artifact is terrifying to contemplate.
Yet, I find myself drawn to the challenge. The chance to study firsthand the magic that powers something like the Time-Splitting Sword... I feel a shiver run through me, part excitement, part fear.
I am no stranger to forbidden lore and dangerous magic. It is my life's work to understand the mysteries of our world. But even I must admit, this feels different. More personal. More... final.
My gaze drifts from the DM to the silver holy symbol on the table, then back again. The risk is immense. But so too is the potential reward. To hold such power, to unravel its secrets... I take a slow breath, steadying myself.
Yes, I am willing to take on this quest. But I must know more. What do we truly understand about this tower? About the dark sorcerers who now claim it? And most importantly, what will be done with the Time-Splitting Sword once we have it?

V

Varrika · Fighter

I lean back in my chair, arms crossed over my chest as I listen to the others speak. My face is a mask of grim determination, eyes narrowed slightly as I consider the risks.
