Round 100 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower with a newly revealed passage and a collapsed staircase tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.
The tower's walls groan ominously around us, each creaking block echoing like a death knell. Halie's silence is broken only by the shifting rubble pinning her down. Merrin's grim determination to free her is admirable, but we can't afford a misstep that might bring the whole place crashing down. Seraphine's right - we need another way up. I eye the crumbling staircase warily, my fingers tightening on the grip of my mace. There has to be something else, some hidden path we've missed in our haste to reach the upper levels. I turn to Jeane, her face etched with exhaustion and pain. "What about it, sorceress? Can you feel any currents of magic that might lead us true?" Her brow furrows as she concentrates, and I hold my breath, hoping against hope that she'll sense some way forward. But as the seconds tick by, a grim certainty settles over me. We're running out of time - and options. The tower's malevolent energy presses down on us like a physical weight, and I can't shake the feeling that we're being watched, evaluated... judged. I meet Merrin's gaze, seeing my own worry reflected in her eyes. Halie's life hangs in the balance, but so does our mission - and the fate of the realms beyond these crumbling walls. We'll have to be smart, be quick... and maybe, just maybe, get lucky. Because one thing's for certain: if we don't find a way out soon, we may not get out at all.
The magic in this corridor—it's wrong. It's not just old power, it's something else entirely. I can feel it trying to latch onto us, and if we go in there blind, whatever took Halie won't be the worst of what happens. We need an alternative route up. Varrika, your senses are sharper than mine when it comes to hidden currents—I need you to tell me if there's another way around this death trap. Seraphine, keep Merrin focused on that rubble—Halie needs her friend back, but we can't sacrifice more people trying to force what won't give. I'm going to check those sigils again. Whatever's painted in blood down there... it's not meant for us to read or follow. The air tastes of sulfur and old sins, and I'd rather face a legion of undead than whatever demonic lord left that calling card. [Jeane steps toward the pulsing corridor with visible reluctance, her wings instinctively half-spread as if ready to take flight at any sudden threat.]
I step closer to Varrika, my voice dropping to a near-silent murmur as I gesture towards the ominous corridor "Can you sense any alternative routes up this tower? The sigils painted on those stones... they reek of a power I'd sooner avoid."
My gaze flicks between the crumbling staircase and the pulsing darkness, a shiver running down my spine despite the oppressive heat. Merrin's injury is a fresh concern, but we cannot afford to linger.
"I fear what might be lurking beyond that threshold, but perhaps there are older paths, less guarded, that could lead us to our goal without passing through such obvious wards. Your senses are far keener than mine when it comes to the hidden currents of this place."
