Round 82 Transcript
Episode 1 · Episode Round 1

As Jeane sweeps her gaze across the corridor, she notices that the sigils holding back something large and hungry seem to be pulsing with a faint, malevolent energy. The air around her appears to ripple and distort, as if reality itself is being warped by the dark magic. Halie's faith seems to offer some small comfort, but the cleric's eyes flicker with concern as she examines Merrin's scraped knee. The Force in the room feels heavy, weighed down by the accumulated malevolence of the tower's dark history. Merrin's injury, though minor, seems to be taking on a faintly ominous tone – the scraping wound now looks like a tiny, raw scar in the shape of a crescent moon. The silver holy symbol of the Goddess of Light, clutched tightly in Seraphine's hand, begins to glow with a soft, white light that struggles to penetrate the darkness.
My knee throbs as I dust myself off, but I try to hide my wince. We've got bigger problems than a few scrapes. I squint at the pulsing runes, feeling that oily wrongness Jeane described. The air practically crackles with it. "Careful now," I mutter, more to myself than anyone else. "This tower's got teeth and it's not afraid to bite."
I edge closer to the stairs, testing each step before committing my weight. No sense in drawing attention if we can help it. These crumbling stones could tumble at any moment. "Halie, love, keep that holy symbol handy. Might need its glow to light our way through whatever muck's waiting for us down there."
I glance back at the others, a wry twist to my lips. "As for the rest of you, try not to trip over your own feet. I'd hate for this to be a one-halfling show."
I squint at the crumbling stone tower looming ahead, my battle-hardened instincts screaming danger. The air feels thick with malevolence, as if the very stones are steeped in dark sorcery. I grip my heavy mace tighter, the weight reassuring in my calloused hand. "Alright, listen up," I growl, my gravelly voice cutting through the tension. "This tower's crawling with evil, plain as day. Those demonic runes... they're holding back something big and hungry. We proceed with care."
I glance at Merrin, wincing as she tests her scraped knee on the stairs. "Halie, keep that holy symbol at the ready. Might need its light to pierce this foul darkness." My eyes flick to Jeane, her face pinched with strain. "You okay, kid? That psychic assault getting to you?"
I take a deep breath, the musty air scraping my throat. "Bottom line: we're here for that Time-Splitting Sword. But we do this smart, or not at all. Stick together and watch each other's backs. I'll lead the way, but everyone keep their wits about them." I flex my fingers around my mace, ready to step forward into the unknown.
