The tension in The base of a crumbling stone tower tightens for a beat as the interruption refuses to go away. Everyone is forced to stay quiet and choose their next move carefully.

Merrin

Merrin · Rogue

Merrin peers intently at the crumbling stone tower, her dark eyes darting from shadow to shadow. A nervous energy crackles through her wiry frame as she shifts her weight from foot to foot, the heavy gear in her pack clinking softly. "Alright, listen up you lot," she says in a low voice, rubbing at her scraped knee with a grimace. "This place gives me the creeps. I'm not saying we should turn tail and run, but let's keep our wits about us, yeah?"

She takes a deep breath, her chest rising beneath her practical leathers. "First things first - Jeane, love, you're our best bet for getting past any magical wards or traps. Seraphine, I need you to keep an eye out for any suspicious runes or symbols. Halie, if anything tries to eat us, I'm counting on you to turn it into a tasty snack."

A wry smile tugs at her lips as she looks to Varrika. "And you, my dear cartographer, I want a full map of this tower's layout before we even think about going in. We can't risk getting lost in there."

She turns back to the tower, her expression hardening. "As for me? I'll be doing what I do best - picking locks and disarming traps. But mark my words, this place is rotten to the core. We need to be careful or it'll swallow us whole."

Merrin takes a step forward, then hesitates, glancing back at the others. "Any questions before we start this dance with the devil?"

Varrika

Varrika · Fighter

Varrika grips her heavy mace tightly, her eyes scanning the crumbling tower entrance. The air feels thick with malevolent energy, and the very stones seem to pulse with dark power. She takes a deep breath, steeling herself for what's to come. "Alright, listen up," Varrika growls, her gravelly voice cutting through the tension. "This place gives me the creeps, but we've got a job to do. Halie, keep your holy symbol ready. Jeane, I need you to watch for any traps or wards. Seraphine, keep an eye out for those damn runes." She turns to Merrin, her expression softening slightly. "And you, love... be careful with that knee of yours."

Varrika's gaze sweeps over the others, her expression grim but determined. "We stick together, we watch each other's backs, and we get that sword. But if things go south, we get out fast. Understood?"

She nods towards the entrance, her hand resting on the hilt of her mace. "Let's move. And stay sharp. This tower may be falling apart, but whatever's inside... it's not going to make this easy for us."

With that, Varrika steps forward, her heavy boots echoing in the stone corridor as she leads the way into the haunted depths of the tower, ready to face whatever horrors lie ahead.

Jeane

Jeane · Sorcerer

I feel it too—a thick, oily corruption clinging to every surface here. The air smells of brimstone and decaying magic. This tower wasn't built by mortals. It was grown, like a tumor. We need to move fast before whatever's inside wakes up fully. I'll scout the corridor ahead with a spell—Scrying Eye, invisible and silent. Give me thirty seconds.
